1. NOUNS (KATA BENDA)
A word that is the name of something (such as a person, animal, place, thing,
quality, idea, or action) and is typically used in a sentence as subject or object of a verb
or as object of a preposition
Function of noun :
- Subject of a Verb
- Subject complement
- Object of a Verb
- Object of a preposition
- Adjective Complement
- direct object

- predicate noun

Example :

o What she cooked was delicious. Subject of a Verb

2. PRONOUNS (KATA GANTI)


- A word that takes the place of a noun, noun phrase, or noun clause.
- A pronoun can function as a subject, object, or complement in a sentence.

3. VERB (KATA KERJA)

A verb is that part of speech which expresses action (run,walk,steal,kill,jump),


being(am,become), or state being (suffer,rejoice).

Function of verb :
1. Verb phrase head
2. Predicate
3. Adjective phrase complement
4. Verb phrase complement
5. Adverbial
6. Subject
7. Subject complement
8. Direct object
9. Object complement
10. Indirect object

Example :

Luna play doll with Susan.


Dika sleep in sofa.
I am making cake.

4. ADVERB(KATA KETERANGAN)
The part of speech (or word class) that is primarily used to modify
a verb,adjective, or other adverb.
Function of adverbs :

Time : (now, today, yesterday).


Manner : (automatically, beautifully, fast).
Degree : (absolutely, barely, really).
Modality : (likely, maybe, probably).
Frequency : (always, often, rarely).
Place & Direction : (here, in, somewhere).
Purpose : (for a reason, to buy some clothes).
Focus : (also, just, only).

Example :

She walked quickly.


He plays football very well.
Sinta was really happy.

5. ADJECTIVE (KATA SIFAT)


Adjective is a word used to describe a noun or pronoun that can be either:
person (person), place (where), animal (animal), or thing (objects, abstract concepts).

Function of adjective :

- Describe feelings or qualities


- Give nationality or origin
- Tell more about a thing's characteristics
- Tell us about age
- Tell us about size and measurement
- Tell us about colour
- Tell us about material/what something is made of
- Tell us about shape
- Express a judgement or a value

Example :

The knife is sharp.


Danu tall man.
This film boring.
Siska has circural book.

6. PREPOSITION (KATA DEPAN)


Preposition is a word that is combined with a noun or pronoun, verb form
phrases that describe, noun, or adjective. This word is one of the eight part of speech
that serves to show the relationship between the object of the preposition (a noun,
pronoun, gerund, or noun clause which follows the preposition) with elements of
other words in a sentence.

Function of Preposition :

- preposition of time : (at night, after,since)


- preposition of place and position : (among his friends, inside my
PC, outside the auditorium)
- preposition of movement (go up stairs)

Example :

This museum has been built since 1997.


The handphone I wanted was out of stock.
Do not follow after him.

7. CONJUNCTION (KATA SAMBUNG)


A conjunction is a word used to join words,pharases,or clauses,and in
continous discourse, the conjunction may be employed to koin sentences or even
paragraphs.

Function of conjunction:
- Coordinating conjunctions are used to join two parts of a sentence that are
grammatically equal. The two parts may be single words or clauses.

- Subordinating conjunctions are used to join a subordinate dependent clause to a main


clause

Example :

Lina,Tini and Dewi go to shopping.


Mita smart but she doesnt diligent.
Mother cooked while I were sleeping.
Although he was very popular, she wasn't handsome.

8. INTERJECTION
An interjection is a word or a group of words interjected in a sentence to donate
strong feeling or sudden emotion.

Example :

Hurray! It is a snow day and school is cancelled


Ugh! I dont like it.
Oh! Today so hot.
