We recently shared four wonderful days with our district family at our District Assembly and Con-
ventions hosted by Ashland First Church and the Ashland KY Zone. The Holy Spirit was alive and powerful
as we heard reports of how God has moved in the lives of our churches and District ministries this past
year. We welcomed in new leadership and said well done to a few who have stepped out of various roles.
We witnessed a man of faith committing his life and ministry as he was ordained by our General Superinten-
dent, Dr. David Graves. Our District Superintendent, Rev. Wyatt gave a very moving report that had the en-
tire congregation thinking of ways to reach the lost in their communities, and literally posting the thoughts
all over the walls of the sanctuary! It was a beautiful and memorable time of Expanding our Vision!
To our Dear EKD family,

Thank you isnt sufficient to tell you how blessed and honored we
were to have you recognize our anniversary during District Assembly! It was
such a special evening, and we were thrilled to spend it with you! Thank you
for all of the wonderful well wishes, the yummy cakes and treats. We loved
every bit of it! God has smiled on us in allowing us to be part of the beautiful
Eastern Kentucky Family! We love you all!

Rev. Doug and Joni Wyatt

Seeing from within an
Oppressive Society

by Gusztinn Tulipn Mria

Gusztinn Tulipn Mria was born to

Christian parents in Hungary at a time in
that countrys history when Christ followers were being
persecuted under Communist rule. By the 1990s, the cul-
ture had begun to change in monumental ways. Maria
was an eyewitness to great events. As she reflects on her
years serving as an ordained elder in the Church of the
Nazarene, Mria says this about her homeland: I do like
the complexity of the ugly and the good togetherand
discovering the touch of Gods hand through it all.
