I am extremely interested in submitting an application for the advertised post. I

currently manage disaster risk reduction programmes with a focus on prevention,
mitigation and preparedness, humanitarian response and early recovery.I have
identified equality concerns and the specific aspirations and needs of vulnerable
communities while coordinating and maintaining a coherent strategy to contribute
to ILO developmental objectives .Through the Child Labour project, I initiated
with the Government of Somalia the ratification of ILO convention on Elimination
of Worst Forms of Child Labour. Additionally I have managed the project funded
by UN-Women on Womens Empowement.

I have over 10 years experience in proposal development, design,

implementation and monitoring disaster risk reduction programmes, in gender
and development, on major trends, needs and policy options concerning gender
equality in the world of work. My experience in programme management and in
implementing gender specific activities that address the root causes and
manifestations of gender inequality and providing long term solutions will be an
added advantage to your organisation. As a senior staff, I serve as a signatory to
the ILO with acting duties providing overall leadership in the absence of the Head
of Mission.

Through the child protection cluster with UNICEF, I have provided data and
supported the implementation of projects in relation to children associated with
armed conflict providing technical expertise on potential economic avenues to
eliminate worst forms of child labour.

Furthermore,I continuously provide technical advisory services to concerned

government authorities. To address youth unemployment in conflict settings the
UN and Government of Somalia embarked in the reinforcement of skills in
managing and monitoring flagship programmes ensuring peace and stability
through youth employment creation. In my line of work, I am tasked to develop a
capacity building plan, tools for monitoring and evaluation.
