An English Comparable Corpora-based
Study of the Collocational Features in
Translated Texts
Abstract: Collocation is an important category
of language patterning. This paper attempts to
explore the collocational features in translated
texts in contrast with original ones. The findings
from the English Comparable Corpora show that
collocational patterns in translated texts manifest
the following features: (1) co-existence of
simplification, normalization and foreignization;
(2) simplification and normalization as the main
features while foreignization as the secondary.
We deem that the above collocational features in
translated texts are the result of Tourys (1995) two

Benjamins, 1995. laws of translation.
