Conference objectives:
To promote the exchange of knowledge between researchers,
designers of public policies for economic development and
businesses around the problems and opportunities that
small and medium enterprises face in Mexico and Latin
America.
To establish collaboration links and partnerships among
researchers and international organizations concerned with
the study and support small and medium enterprises.
To set an initial baseline, at the highest level of
scientific rigor, on the study of small and medium
enterprise in the country and Latin America.
To provide the outlines of a relevant and solid scientific
research agenda that generates specific contributions for

the promotion of small and medium enterprises in the
region, and for the design of public policy in this area.

Submission guidelines:
Paper proposals should be the result of scientific,
theoretical or empirical research, presented under
international refereed journal standards. Submissions must be
entirely original, not previously published, and must not be
under consideration for publication or scheduled for
presentation on other conferences taking place simultaneously
with the ICSB-CIMIPYME conference. The nature of the congress

is eminently scientific, and therefore opinion essays are
excluded in principle, and may only be considered for
inclusion in exceptional cases where, in the opinion of the
Scientific Committee, quality and relevance are in accordance
with the conferences objectives.

Formatting:
Papers must be submitted in Word, following the Journal of
Small Business Management2 style guidelines.
Each paper proposal should be submitted using two distinct
files: one for the front page and one for the body of the
paper, under the guidelines presented below.
The papers should have an extension between 12 and 30
pages, excluding tables, graphs and references.
Submissions must be typed and double-spaced with one-inch
margins using 11-point Arial font.
Title: Centered, italic, bold, 14 points, capitalize the
first letter of each word (except articles, conjunctions
and prepositions).
Section headers (first level): 12 points, italics, bold,
capitalize the first letter of each word (except articles,
conjunctions and prepositions), separate paragraph,
aligned left.
Section headers (second level): 12 points, bold,
capitalize the first letter of each word (except articles,
conjunctions and prepositions), separate paragraph,
aligned left.
Section headers (third level): Built into paragraph,
italic, 11 points, capitalize the first letter of each
word (except articles, conjunctions and prepositions).
Front page:
It should contain:
Title of the proposal, with a maximum of 25 words.
Contact information for corresponding author and
coauthors, full name, affiliation and email for each.
Track where the paper is proposed.
Date and place of the Conference.

Authors must avoid revealing their identities in the body
of the paper.
It must contain a summary of a maximum of 300 words, Arial
10, with lateral margins of 4 cm.
Three to five key words (or groups of words), separated by
commas.
Title: Bold, Arial 12, centered.
Section headings: Bold, Arial 11, left aligned.
References in APA format, version 6 or higher.
Pages numbered at bottom center.
Publications:
The best papers, in the opinion of the Scientific Committee,
will be published in one or more e-books, depending on their
thematic coherence and the audiences they may be directed to.
Only papers selected by the Scientific Committee on the basis
of merit, scientific rigor and relevance of their
contribution will be included in the book(s) to be published
as a result of the Conference. Authors will have a period of
30 days, from the observations made by the Scientific
Committee, to revise their entries for publication.
In both cases, only those papers for which at least one of
whose authors have paid their membership in ICSB, and the
conference registration, will be considered.
