IV CIMIPYME National Conference &

I ICSB Mxico SME International

Conference

Sustainable enterprises and their social commitment.

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mxico. September 23 25, 2015.

The First ICSB Mxico SME International Conference and the

4th CIMIPYME Conference: Sustainable enterprises and its
social commitment; will be held in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco,
in September 23 25, 2015.

The conference theme is derived from the interest in

promoting research and knowledge contribution to the
development of our societies in a global and changing world;
in addition, it seeks to strengthen and consolidate research
partnerships among various disciplines and institutions in
national and international contexts.

Conference objectives:
To promote the exchange of knowledge between researchers,
designers of public policies for economic development and
businesses around the problems and opportunities that
small and medium enterprises face in Mexico and Latin
America.
To establish collaboration links and partnerships among
researchers and international organizations concerned with
the study and support small and medium enterprises.
To set an initial baseline, at the highest level of
scientific rigor, on the study of small and medium
enterprise in the country and Latin America.
To provide the outlines of a relevant and solid scientific
research agenda that generates specific contributions for

1
the promotion of small and medium enterprises in the
region, and for the design of public policy in this area.

Conference Theme:

The central theme proposed for this conference is

"Sustainable enterprises and their social commitment."
Mexican and Latin American companies generally face new
levels and forms of competition arising from the
globalization of markets. Along with this, however, the
companies in our region must meet the demands and
imperatives that society demands with increasing urgency:
consideration of sustainability issues and response to
social needs that go beyond their market performance.
The companies in our region in many cases still deal with
the consequences of opening up their economies to
international competition, and struggle to adapt in order
to survive and to compete globally. The growing social
demand for sustainability and social responsibility poses
even greater demands on them.
For these reasons, research in our field should also
consider these dimensions as relevant in order to have an
impact on the viability of businesses and of the economies
in which they operate. What do these demands mean in our
context, given that they are originated in industrialized
economies, where resources and business dynamics are
different? How are they responding to these demands?
