Task Procedures:

PART 1

1. Ask three volunteers to the front of the class.


2. Arrange the pupils into formation as below;
a. Where is B? (between A&C)
A B C

A B C
b. Where is the fan? (above A)

c. Where is the table? (below the fan)

3. Elicit response from pupils.


4. Write down the prepositions above, below and between on the whiteboard.
5. Teacher explains further about the prepositions by showing the power point slides to
the pupils.

PART 2
1. Inform pupils that they are going to do an activity called Wheres the planet?.
Boys and girls, we are going to do the activity of Wheres the planet?

2. Ask pupils to gather at one table.


Please come to the table in front in orderly manner.
(Teacher waves hands towards the pupils to come to the front.)

3. Model the activity to the class. Get two volunteers to help.


I need two lovely boys or girls to come and help me.

4. Explains how the game is carried out.


Please listen carefully to my explanations on how to do the activity.
( Teacher cups her hand over the ear to show the pupils to listen carefully.)

a. Put a set of PREPOSITIONS SENTENCE CARDS facing down on the table.


b. Place the blank solar system template on the table.
c. Divide the pupils into 2 teams and assign them as Team A and Team B.(Each
team has two pupils)
d. Team A starts by picking up one PREPOSITIONS SENTENCE CARDS from the
pile and read it aloud, e.g. The earth is between Jupiter and venus.
e. Team B has to listen and arrange the Planet Token on the grid of the solar
system based on the sentence on the PREPOSITIONS SENTENCE CARDS.
f. Once the pupil has arranged the tokens, Team A has to read aloud the
sentence on the PREPOSITIONS INSTRUCTIONS CARD to Team B.
g. Team B has to check if the arrangement is correct.
h. Team A can keep the PREPOSITIONS CARD if the arrangement is correct. If
the arrangement is incorrect, Team A has to put back the PREPOSITIONS
SENTENCE CARDS at the bottom of the pile.
i. The winner is the team with the most PREPOSITIONS SENTENCE CARDS.

4. Ask pupils to work in the same group of four.


5. Ask the groups to divide themselves into Team A and Team B.
Okay boys and girls, now return to your seat and get into groups of 4. I will provide
each teams with the PREPOSITIONS SENTENCE CARDS and the SOLAR SYSTEM
template.
( Teacher puts out both hands and motion the pupils to sit down.)
6. Start the game. Monitor pupils as they are playing the game.
Now you may start doing the activity. Enjoy your activity boys and girls.
( Teacher gives out a warm smile.)

PART 3

1. Ask pupils to return to their respective seats after they have finished the activity.
Okay I hope you enjoy the activity. Now return to your sit quietly.
(Teacher uses hands to motion the pupils to be seated.)

2. Pupils are given worksheet on prepositions that they have learnt.


Please answer the worksheet with the prepositions that you have learnt; above, below
and between.

3. Pupils complete the worksheet.

4. Pupils check the answers with their peers and hand in the worksheet to the teacher.

CLASS MANAGEMENT:

1. Clap hands and say aloud to the pupils.


Clap!Clap! If I say jump...

2. Pupils will clap hands as well and reply.


Clap!Clap! We say how high...

3. Teacher puts forefinger over lips and says again.


If I say Hush...

4. Pupils will put forefinger over their lips as well and say.
We say shhhhh.....

MANAGING MISTAKES AND ERRORS:

Put a finger on the pupils shoulder and make a buzz sound and say BUSTED!

REWARD SYSTEM:

1. Get a big smiley face.


2. Cut the smiley face into four parts.
3 Give each part of the smiley face to the pupils/teams that do well in class.
4. The pupils that get the whole four parts of the smiley face get a token of appreciation (of
teachers choice).
