Whom It May Concern:

Please accept this letter in application for the said position. I have enclosed a copy of my
rsum for your review.
My academic and professional background has allowed me to fully appreciate the importance
of strengthening monitoring and evaluation processes within the field of rural development,
with a focus on child protection, education, WASH, nutrition, livelihood, built environment
and natural resource management. For several reasons, I believe these experiences qualify me
as an ideal candidate for working within the organisation.
Working with Save the Children in DI Khan district as a Sr. officer monitoring, evaluation
and accountability, Sr. officer MEAL Save the Children in Sanghar and as part of a multi-
input earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation programme in Azad Jammu and Kashmir,
Pakistan, as a Research officer for the Monitoring and Evaluation section, provided me an
exposure to various fields of rural development, notably child protection, education, WASH,
nutrition, built environment, education, and livelihoods. This multi-input approach addresses
the multi-dimensional needs of communities by capitalising on efficient resource utilisation
with initiatives organized under one umbrella and a holistic focus on outcomes. The
approach aims of the project is providing a platform for rehabilitation of flood affected
community of DI Khan and as well as in Kashmir at promoting long-term area development
through an emphasis on sustainable interventions and participatory techniques. As part of
this experience, I have learnt to monitor and evaluate the abovementioned sectors, using a
multi-dimensional approach, for programme improvement over the short-, medium-, and
long-term in a rehabilitation setting. In addition to strengthening my evaluation skills, this
experience also allowed me to comprehend and appreciate the overall vision of the Aga
Khan Development Network and Save the Children.
Throughout my involvement as a Research Officer within the Multi-Input Earthquake
Reconstruction Programme (MERP) in Chakhama Valley, I had the opportunity to evaluate
a multi-input programme focused on risk conscious reconstruction. In a first instance, this
translated into actively participating in a overall baseline assessment of the entire
programme. This exercise further allowed me to comprehend the multi-dimensional needs
of Chakhama Valley residents, while strengthen my data collection and analysis skills, for
both quantitative and qualitative data. In a second instance, I was actively involved in
conducting environmental assessments of the various projects implemented by MERP,
which allowed me to further strengthen my knowledge of the impact of built environment
onto various sectors such as health and disaster risk management.
In closing, I would like to reiterate the fact that my experience at the Aga Khan
Development Network in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Save the Children at DI Khan and
Sanghar makes me a suitable candidate for this position as I have first-hand knowledge of
monitoring and evaluation processes. My strong motivation for this position lies in the
opportunity to further explore and develop innovative methods of capacity building in an
effort to more effectively promote the transformation of knowledge into practice.
Thank you for considering my file. I look forward to meeting with you to further discuss this
professional opportunity. Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate
to contact me.
Sincerely,
Muhammad Najam Khan
