Lesson idea implementation:
This lesson addresses the Algebra 1 standard that deals with recursive rules. However, it also hits on math
history even though that is not a direct standard. The concept of finding patterns is essential in mathematics
and using the video on the Fibonacci sequence and how it is found in nature can be very meaningful to
students. The project will be introduced by the video and students will have a corresponding worksheet to be
filling out to make sure they are paying attention. This worksheet may include to write down the rule, why it
works, and 3 examples of where the sequence is seen in nature. The turned in worksheet will allow me to see
where the student stands in relation to understand the sequence and how it works. Then, students will be
given a sheet of three different functions to explore. For example, the paper folding activity could be one of
them.
The students will choose a scenario and investigate themselves, research online, and create their own
video on the topic. This will allow students to research and create which promotes higher level thinking and
higher LoTi levels. The students will share what they created to the whole class and serve the role as the
teacher. I will have a rubric, which the students will be given prior to creating their video, that they will be
graded with.

Importance of technology:
The importance of technology is very apparent in this lesson. Students would be able to receive the
knowledge of Fibonacci sequences and how it is formed, but they would lack the real-world examples. The
video embedded in my video provides students with how the Fibonacci sequence is seen in nature and other
areas of everyday life which is very important. Creating a video on iMovie allows the students to be interested
and engaged. Also, students are learning how to create their own video which promotes UDL and
differentiation.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:
To prevent copyright compliance, teachers can make sure students know how to site their work correctly to
give credit to any outside sources. For Internet safety, teachers can make sure students are working on a safe
and secure computer program as well as monitor the students work. A strategy to keep the students privacy
safe is to make sure no student names or information is on anything that is published on a class website.
