Job Hazard Assessment Policy


1.0 POLICY
SaskPower is committed to maintaining a workplace in which safety is part of everything we do and is as
important as anything we do. One expression of our commitment to safety is this Job Hazard
Assessment (JHA) Policy.

It is a SaskPower policy that all work activities are assessed in order to identify existing and potential risks
to the health or safety of workers and those reasonably practicable measures will be taken to eliminate,
reduce or control those risks.

2.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of this Policy is to help implement SaskPowers requirement that work activities are
assessed in order to identify hazards, to assess the health and safety risks posed to workers by the
identified hazards and to identify reasonably practicable measures to reduce those risks by eliminating,
reducing or controlling the identified hazards.

3.0 APPLICATION/EXCEPTIONS
This Policy applies to all SaskPower facilities/operations and all work activities, including
contractor and visitor activities. There are no exceptions to SaskPowers JHA policy.

4.0 ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

4.1 Divisions shall:


Perform documented hazard identification and risk assessment of work activities that are the
assigned responsibilities of each employee position, or may reasonably be assigned to a position
from time to time.
Perform documented hazard identification and risk assessment of jobs or tasks that are, or may
be, assigned to contractors.
Perform documented hazard identification and risk assessment of work activities that are, or may
be, performed by visitors to SaskPower facilities and worksites.
Define the scope and the nature of the above assessments during implementation of this policy.
Communicate the identified hazards and risk countermeasures to the respective parties prior to
the start of work.
Maintain the completed records.
Maintain a process of continuous improvement through management review.

4.2 Corporate Safety shall:


Comply with all of the above Division requirements as part of Corporate Groups.
Maintain the standards for SaskPower.
Support each Division in meeting their responsibilities for this Policy by:
o Assisting in conducting may be requested by Division
o Providing specialized training when requested by Division.
o Assess Division compliance and performance for this Policy through the internal and
external audit processes.
