CRITERIA FOR GRADING MIDTERM & FINAL
ORAL EXAM

100 Communication is almost always effective. Very understandable with little or no


listener effort.
Only minor errors, but generally good control of language studied in the course. Delivery is
generally smooth, quite clear and coherent. General performance definitely meets course
expectations.

95 Exceeds lower band; does not quite meet upper bands criteria

90 Communication is generally effective. Understandable with little listener effort.


Some errors with language studied in the course, but these do not usually seriously affect
communication.
Delivery may have pauses and/or be choppy and slow sometimes.
General performance adequately meets course expectations.

80 Exceeds lower band; does not quite meet upper bands criteria

75 Communication is only somewhat effective. Somewhat understandable, but listener effort


generally required. Possibly makes frequent errors with language studied in the course.
Delivery may have prolonged pauses and/or be choppy or repetitive.
General performance is slightly below course expectations.

65 Exceeds lower band; does not quite meet upper bands criteria

formed in 1992 - 1982. They scored a number of hits in the
USA-UK charts and around the world. The band were named
Best British Newcomer at the 1988 Brit Awards - Grammy
Awards.

They are best known for their 1999-1994 cover of The


Troggs 1960s hit "Love Is All Around", which was used on the
soundtrack to the film The Ant Man-Four Weddings and

1992 - 1998 and disbanded in June 2010 - 2012.
Originally signed by Simon Cowell - Usher and managed
by Simon Cowell - Louis Walsh, the group's final line-up
consisted of Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, Shane
Filan and Brian McFadden.
Westlife sold over 50 - 40 million records worldwide, a total
that included studio albums, singles, video releases, and
compilation albums. In 2012, the Official Charts Company
listed Westlife 32nd - 34th amongst the biggest-selling
singles artists in British - American music history. Despite their success worldwide, Westlife
never managed to break into the U.S. - the U.K. market, achieving only one hit single in
1992 - 2000, "Swear It Again".
