Acoustic Pipe
Supports
Maineport Ltd manufacture a complete range of acoustic pipe supports engineered to satisfy the
requirements of energy and process industries, covering pipe sizes from 15 to 600mm nominal
bore and temperatures from - 70C to 200C.
Features
Acoustic insulation materials are elastomer composites designed to provide excellent energy
absorption with high resistance to chemical solvents, spread of flame, heat and electrical
conduction. These materials can also help to reduce strain caused by pipe misalignment, and
prevent galvanic action or fretting between piping and supports.
Various colour coded grades are available to suit design temperature ranges.
Steel materials can be supplied zinc coated or in stainless steel grades to suit particular
applications.
All threads are ISO metric for details of bolting, clamps and design information please refer to
the Maineport Ltd Standard Pipe Support Catalogue.
Pipe Grips and guides are available in sizes to suit steel and cupro-nickel pipe specifications,
colour-coded blue for steel and brown for cupro-nickel.
For further guidance on applications and selection contact our Unitherm Division where our
specialists will advise on a solution to your specific application problems.

The acoustic guide comprises of a steel U Bolt covered in a plain elastomer sleeve lined with a
bonded flat PTFE strip, passing through an insulation block bonded to a PTFE strip. The
assembly is fixed with 4 nuts and washers accurately positioned and tightened to permit pipe
movement caused by thermal expansion, whilst firmly locating the pipe and damping vibration.

Specify pipe material and size, design temperature, U Bolt steel grade/coating and quantity.
Special clamp blocks are available from MAINEPORT LTD to deal with heavy vibrations at pipe
support locations. The blocks are horizontally split for ease of installation and are available with
PTFE sleeves to allow thermal movement as above. Blocks are dimensioned and detailed to
customers requirements.

The clip strip is an elastomer profile supplied cut to length as tabulated to suit pipe diameter, or
in 1200mm lengths as required. The strip can either be retrofitted to existing straps (to reduce
noise and vibration or wear and galvanic action) or supplied with the matching straps Type
APST opposite.
TO ORDER
Specify quantity, pipe size and material or No. of 1200mm lengths and width W. Also available
with a bonded low-friction composite on the flat face for use as a pipe guide.
