The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St., will
ABOUT AUTHOR
devote Aug. 6–15 to Festival de la Risa, a big-screen showcase for
some choice examples of Mexico’s movie-comedy traditions. The
occasion marks the bicentennial of Mexican independence and the
centennial of the Mexican Revolution.

The collaborative venture with the Mexican Consulate and the


Lone Star Film Society will open at 5 p.m. Aug. 6 with a
Michael H. Price performance of Latin music from the Denton-based ensemble Mi

The selection, balanced between historic and modern-day examples


of Mexican cinema, consists of first-rate primary-source prints,
supplied with the assistance of Juan Carlos Cuevega, Dallas-based
consul general of Mexico; Adolfo Ayuso Audry, Dallas-based
cultural attaché to the Consulate General; and Televisa S.A. de
C.V. and Fundación Cultural Televisa.

Priced at $6.50 to $8.50 per showing, tickets go on sale two hours


prior to each showing. Reservations may be made by members of
the Modern’s Reel People organization and the film society with a
call to 817-840-2154 or 817-738-9215. Members also may make
full-festival purchases ($40–$50) in advance.
