Dear Families,

In an effort to ease your child into the beginning of his/her new school year, we are going to have our kindergarten
students begin school on Thursday, August 31. Please plan on bringing your child to school at 8:30 AM and picking
him/her up at 11:30 AM. Bus service to and from school will not be available that day. Weve outlined the morning for
you below; specific times are approximations. Please remember to sign and bring the enclosed permission slip to school
so your child can ride the bus during our short tour through town. This may be your childs first time riding the bus, and
we are excited to give everyone this experience before the rest of our students begin school. Also enclosed is additional
information about kindergarten that you may find helpful. Please let us know if you have any questions.

8:30-9:00 Arrival: Thank you for bringing your child to school! You are welcome to stay for a few minutes if you
would like. We will need to say goodbye by 9:00.

9:00-9:30 Classroom time: We will explore the classroom and begin our morning together.

9:30-10:00 School tour: We will take a tour of the school and visit our IA teachers. Your child will meet Mr. Boynton
(PE teacher), Ms. Anderson (librarian), Mrs. Bemis (art teacher), Mrs. Hastings (health teacher), and Mr.
Frost (music teacher).

10:00-10:30 Recess: Weather permitting, we will go to the playground, learn about ways to play safely, and meet
new friends.

10:30-11:00 Snack: We will go through the lunch line to pick up a snack, and then sit at our lunch table in the
cafeteria. You may send in a snack for your child if you prefer. (Snack will usually be in our classrooms.
We wanted to give your child the experience of going through the lunch line and eating in the cafeteria
on their first day of school.)

Lunch will not be provided today.
11:00-11:30 Bus ride: We will ride a school bus in a short loop through town.

11:30 Pick up: Thank you for picking up your child! Enjoy your long weekend!


School will not be in session on Friday, September 1. The first day of school for all Paul School students will be on
Tuesday, September 5. We are looking forward to seeing you on August 31!
