Transferring Serial Number and Date of Manufacture

The replacement rear housing in the kit comes with a laser-etched label on the back. This contains
general information, such as the model number, manufacturers name and address, and other
regulatory information. The following items are left blank:
Serial number (SN)
Date of manufacture (DOM)
You need to transfer these two items, specific to your unit, from the label on the old housing to the
new one. To transfer these items:

Printed in Germany 07/2007

Part number M3046-9390A *M3046-9390A*
4512 610 24081
1 Locate the SN and the DOM on the old rear
housing label. Serial number
Date of
manufacture (SN)
(DOM)

2 Locate the blank area on the new rear housing

label where you will transfer this information.

3 Using the supplied marker pen, copy the SN

and DOM from the old housing to the blank
area on the new housing label.

4 Stick the self-adhesive, clear foil over the SN

and DOM you have just written to prevent
smearing and to provide protection.

Exchanging the Rear Housing

Exchange the new, labeled rear housing as described in the M3 / M4 Service Guide.
