ABOUT US
In 1990 engineers working at British Telecom in the UK and KPN in the Netherlands invented the concept of carrying
ber optic cable through a subduct using pushing force and a large volume of high pressure air where cable enters the
duct. The physics surrounding the equipment and methodology of what came to be known as cable blowing or jetting
is based on theories of viscous drag. Working closely with the engineers at BT, CBS Products Ltd. in the UK created the
Tornado cable blower, which has become widely recognized as a workhorse with a reputation for durability in the eld.
CBS was at the forefront of the development of the equipment which became the standard at BT and many other telecom
operators in many countries, including Africa, Asia and Europe.
In 2000, GMP became the North American distributor for CBS Products and introduced the Tornado and the microcable
blower Breeze in the US and Canada. The immediate success of these cable blowers added to GMPs broad cable
placing product line. In 2004 GMP purchased CBS Products Ltd.
In the ensuing decade, the GMP cable blowing product line has grown to include 6 different machines, and a full line of
accessories and tools to cover every cable blowing application. Our engineering, design support, quality and manufactur-
ing capabilities are best in class.
Since 1936, GMP has been providing the tools of the trade for utility construction, made in the USA and built to go the
distance.
TORNADO CABLE BLOWING MACHINE
Designed to be safe, fast and effective, the Tornado Cable Blowing Machine installs ber
optic cable into pre-installed innerduct or direct buried innerduct. A conversion kit allows
the Tornado to place either 12/10 mm or 10/8 mm micro ducts into innerduct as well.
Comprised of an aluminum air box and cable pusher, the Tornado uses compressed air
to install the cable with or without a missile. In operation, the hydraulically powered, belt
drive system controls the ber optic cable as it is propelled by compressed air through
the innerduct. An electronic monitoring system provides read-outs of speed and distance,
helps protect cable against damage, and includes an emergency stop button.
The air box and cable pusher are mounted on a lightweight, tubular-steel frame that
can be tilted at a 30-degree angle to the manhole, which signicantly minimizes any
bending of the innerduct and cable. The frame has retractable handles to permit ease
of maneuverability, and adjustable rear legs that provide added stability on uneven
terrain. This unit comes complete with a gasoline engine powered hydraulic power pack.

The JetStream has been designed
to provide maximum cable protection,
combined with the performance and re-
liability of hydraulic drive. The proled
double drive belt system is driven by single 32 cc hydraulic motor,

BREEZE CABLE BLOWING MACHINE
The Breeze can install both microcable and blown ber (blown
ber available with add-on kit) and it is the only machine on the
market with this capability, so it saves you money.
The high/low torque switch makes it easy to select the torque
range to install microcable or blown ber.
The design of the Breeze provides for quick and easy component
changes for different cable or duct sizes.
Its compact size and portable maneuverability makes the Breeze
ideally suited for external or in-building use. The compliant,
double driven rollers provide a secure grip while safely handling
micro ber cable. The pushing force, up to 35 lbs. (16 kg), can be
adjusted to suit the cable stiffness. The unit has variable speed
control.

The design of the Whisper provides for quick and easy component changes
for different cable or duct sizes. Its compact size and portable maneuverabili-

The Whisper uses compressed air to install the cable. The rollers, powered

The AccelAir 2 Blown Fiber Machine is the latest
complement to the range of ber optic blowing
equipment available from GMP. Designed to suit the
smaller end of ber range from 2-12 bers (1-3 mm
dia.), AccelAir 2 completes the range of Tornado, JetSteam, AirStream and Breeze ber blow-
ing installation systems all from one company. A compact integrated ber-blowing machine,
the AccelAir 2 benets from full automation and ber AccelAir 2 management. Its sophisticated
ber protection is designed to ensure that the blown ber mechanical and optical in-

Polywater Prelube 5000 reduces frictional drag during the blowing of small diameter ber optic
microcable into microtube duct. It increases the length of cable that can be blown in a single shot. Pre-
lube 5000 is more concentrated, yet less viscous, than Prelube 2000 (for blowing conventional ber
cables). The improved chemistry allows this product to spread further and reduce friction at extremely low
coating levels. The lower viscosity allows practical application into the microtubes.

CABLE OVERBLOWING JUNCTION BOX

The GMP 1 " and 1 " SDR Cable Overblowing Junction Box have been designed to install
a new cable or innerduct into an existing occupied innerduct (subject to space being avail-
able).
These Single Size Junction Boxes are comprised of an aluminum base and lid that form a
pressurized air chamber into which one end of an existing occupied innerduct can be at-
tached. The existing cable can exit the box through an opening that has 3 cable seal slots,
one of which will house the seal to suit the size of the existing cable. The third branch is
then connected to a GMP Cable Blowing Machine via a short slave length of innerduct for
the installation of the extra cable or tube(s). A collection of seals ranging from 9 - 20 mm are
included with each junction box.

The Compressor Aftercooler has been designed to cool compressed air and remove water droplets prior to entering a

SIDEWINDER FIBER OPTIC CABLE PULLER
The GMP SideWinder, Trailer Mounted Fiber Optic Puller has been designed to exceed the requirements of installing un-
derground telecommunication cables, employing a 32" diameter single capstan to provide a controlled force to the pulling
rope or tape. The single capstan allows the winch to be placed at
the mid point of a section to assist in the pull, thus enabling longer
pulls to be achieved.
At 1400 lbs., the unit is easily pulled by a standard pickup truck.

The power source is a commercial grade Honda GX390 gaso-
line engine which drives the xed displacement tandem mounted
hydraulic pumps.
The rope take-up drum is removable and can be split to enable

removal of rope. The capstan can be rotated through 90 on a
swivel bracket from the in-line working position to the transverse
transit position when in tow. When the winch is in the working
mode the rear props are extended out of the chassis to provide

Cable Pulling Harnesses
This convenient product will allow multiple pulls at one time by attaching 2 to 4 cables or
ducts to the Puller.
The slings are manufactured from aircraft quality wire rope.
The various legs are staggered in length so the individual connections are not interfer-
ing with each other. The lead coupler can be easily dismantled to change out a leg or
to add another leg.
Each leg is marked with load capacity and they are pull tested to 3 times that rating.
The safety factor of 3:1 is based on equal pull on all cables, (horizontal pull only).

Flexible Pulling Grips
Pulling Grips, sometimes referred to as pulling socks or stockings, are indispensable in many
different cable pulling applications. Manufactured from high-tensile, galvanized steel wire that is
evenly hand woven in a single, double or triple wire weave according to pulling tension require-
ments. We reverse weave our grips which create a loop at the end of the grip instead of being
crimped or soldered together. The wire is then joined under the crimped head. This creates a
higher quality product that outlasts the competition.

Precision-machined body is made of high quality stainless steel with higher working
load ratings than comparably sized swivels available on the market.
These heavy-duty swivels are built with a thrust bearing for tensile load and a radial

Innerduct Pulling Eyes

These rugged zinc-plated steel pulling eyes allow innerduct placement to become a faster, safer
operation.
Easy insertion by rotating the pulling eye into the innerduct allows the threads to make the
connection.
A convenient hole in the threaded end of the pulling eye body is used to tie off the innerduct
pulling line or tape keeping it from being lost during the pulling operation.
Our Swiveling Innerduct Pulling Eyes eliminate the need to use a Pulling Eye Length

Expanding Jaw Pulling Eyes

GMPs line of Expanding Jaw Pulling Eyes are designed for the installation of 2-6" diameter
Polyethylene Pipe in wall sizes ranging from SDR 9 thru SDR 21 and Sch 40.
The SDR designation determines the pipe minimum wall thickness. To calculate a particular
pipes wall thickness simply divide its nominal outside diameter by its SDR value. For example a
4 Pipe that is designated SDR 11 will have a minimum wall thickness of .409 (4.5 / 11 = .409).
The one-piece cone design incorporates a full sleeve, which completely encloses the jaws.
During set-up and operation this sleeve prevents the polyethylene pipe from over expanding
and rupturing.
Key components are hardened alloy steel to ensure that the pulling eye will not fail before
the pipe.
A swiveling eye nut provides for the attachment of a pulling line.
The Pulling Eyes will accomodate O.D. controlled pipe only.
