XD Settling Flocculant for Red Mud in Alumina Process

Description

Settling and separation of red mud is an extremely complicated physical and chemical process.
The ore pulp from Bayer Process is a suspension consisting of red mud and sodium aluninate
solution. There are complex physical and chemical actions between the red mud particles, as
well as between the particles and the solution. So many factors have significant impact on the
process of settling and separation, such as the phase composition of red mud, particle size
distribution of red mud, the red mud particle surface morphology, solid content in the red mud
slurry, liquid phase components and the temperature of the red mud slurry, etc.

It is very important to choose the most proper flocculant, so that we can not only realize the
high speed solid-liquid separation, but also can reduce the size of the equipment. The
mechanism of polymeric flocculant is to make the red mud particles flocculated effectively, by
the actions of Adsorption Bridge, surface adsorption and charge neutralization.
Different slurry has different settling properties. Appropriate polymeric flocculant is selected by
performing some professional experiments to achieve efficient separation of red mud.

Preventing red mud inflation

Temperature and pH value have little influence on the product

Flash point ( ):100 minimum
Solid content: 45%

Using Method
Prepare approximately 1% alkal solution;
Keep it at the temperature 50 or so, dilute the settling flocculant with the prepared alkal
solution to the concentration of 0.3%-0.5%;
Then wait for about half an hour to make sure the product dissolve completely, so that its
function will be better.

Packing
The flocculant is packed in plastic barrels, with each barrel containing 1000kg.
GW: 1065kg; NW: 1000kg

Storage and Transportation

The product is stable. The warranty period is 6 months in sealed and cool condition.
Avoid contacting metals, such as iron, copper, aluminum, etc.
Pay attention to package encapsulation during transportation, suitable for both automobile and
sea transportation.
