About the University
The Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University,
Lucknow is one of the premier Central Universities
in the country established on 10th January 1996 with
the objective of promoting advance knowledge by
providing instructional and research facilities in
Science, key and frontier areas of technology, social
sciences and other disciplines. The University
promotes the study of the Principles for which
Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar worked during his
lifetime and pay special attention to the promotion
of educational and economic interests and welfare of
the people in general and members belonging to
SC/ST in particular.
About the Department:
Department of economics is one of the oldest
department of the University. The department is
running one full time Masters Courses; M.A
Economics and also offers PhD and M.Phil.
programmes with main emphasis on innovative and
empirical research on various aspects of the
economy. The Department is working with a vision
of creating global leaders, having advanced
infrastructural facilities like Computer lab, Library,
Conference hall and eminent faculty members to
train the students in accordance with the need of the
job market. The Department has always been
conscious of and responsive to socio-economic
needs of the society at large.
Concept Note of Conference
Asia, situated in northern eastern part of globe, has
emerged as an economic power and ray of hope in
providing the alternative option apart from America
and Europe after globalisation. It consist nearly 60
percent population and 30 percent area of the world.
When the economies of the rest of the world are
turmoiling with very low economic growth due to
sub prime crisis of US economy, most of the
countries of the Asia have ensured the growth rate
well above 6 percent. Emerging of India and China
in the post reforms period is being considered as the
first step in the direction of making multi polar
world. The rich human and natural resources with
very good climatic conditions also support in this
direction. After the great scientific revolution of
Europe, which established the mechanistic view of
nature and rejected the dualistic view, Europe and
America are dominated over the world in terms of
ideas and values as well as in economic activities.
But the success of India and china, which is based
on their own domestic resources and unique ideas
and policies, are providing sufficient reasons to
believe that, the new union is going to be of Asian
Though many positive developments have taken
place in favour of Asian countries in recent past but
still many more issues and problems need to resolve
to realise the full potential of this continent. Asia is
much diversified set of the countries; where as in
one hand they are the countries like Japan and South
Korea, which are almost in list of developed
countries. The countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan,
Myanmar, Srilanka and Afghanistan are on other
hand less developed as well as politically instable
and facing number of internal problems. Among
these Asian countries there are countries like India
and China that are politically stable and internally
strong, and growing quite well. These countries are
the hope for Asia as well as for the whole world.
Lack of cooperation among these three set of the
countries, unlike Europe and North American
countries, is biggest hurdle for the development of
the continent. It is reflecting in trade relations,
economic cooperation as well as political and social
cooperation. However, it could be achieved because
of basic values, which are the same in whole
continent. Strong cultural and religious relations in
countries of Asian continent are also supporting in
this direction. India and China can play very crucial
role in this direction. The globe is indeed looking at
us with renewed interest. Almost every
macroeconomic variable has been affected by the
process of globalization. Be it foreign direct
investment, foreign portfolio investment, business
process outsourcing, technology transfer,
information technology advancements, foreign trade
of goods, services and capital, foreign exchange
reserves or national income. Making free trade area
to whole continent, single currency for Asian region,
free flow of capital and development in social
indicators, are some of the issues which could be
resolved. It will help in development of countries of
the Asia. In this context it is the right time to discuss
the contemporary macro economics of developing
Asian economies to provide some inputs and
direction of making Asia the dawn of new hope for
the world. To introspect on the dynamics of macro
economics of the developing Asian countries with
special reference to India, the Babasaheb Bhimrao
Ambedkar Central University, Lucknow, India is
organising three days international conference
during 25th 27th October 2017. We are inviting
scholars, academicians and policy makers of Asian
countries and other part of globe to share their
findings of research on the significant sub themes.
The International Seminar is proposed to organise
