Whats Being Done To
Eradicate Illegal Drugs
In the U.S., several government agencies led by the
Drug Enforcement Agency are working cooperatively
to take down drugs trafficking rings, usually through
interception during transit. Though a lot of drug
trafficking cant currently be stopped at the source, by
reducing the amount brought into the country, the
demand would outweigh the supply and help keep the
rate of new drug users low.

How To Get A Prescription
Containing A Controlled Substance

Most individuals need to have a degree of severity to

their symptoms before a doctor will prescribe a
controlled substance. Sometimes medications of a
weaker strength will be tried first, but most doctors are
confident in the prescription.

Changes That Can Be Made
For A Positive Future
Perhaps the laws we currently have regarding
drug users are more ineffective than they are
affective. Taking a look at Portugal, they have
decriminalized all drugs from Marijuana to
Heroin. While drug trafficking is still illegal,
authorities no longer arrest citizens carrying
what is considered 10-days supply of any
drug, but issue a sentence to meet before a
panel of experts that then issue treatments
and sometimes counseling or therapy. Since
they started this in 2000, theyve seen serious
drops in both HIV and death from overdosing.
Theyve put the focus on giving help for
addicts and normalizing seeking treatment
rather than filling up prisons. Its a social issue
rather than a crime.
