I. I. WHAT IS HEAT PIPE?

- A extremely efficient Passive Heat Transfer Device which

transfers the Sensible heat from the Entering air to the Leaving air of
a cooling coil at a extremely High Transfer rate.
- Eventually the low operating temperature for the Cooling coil
increases the Dehumidification Capacity of the cooling coil
dramatically whereas the Cooling Coil can be Downsized.
- No additional electrical supply or operating equipments like
compressors, pumps, valves etc are required.
- Since there is no moving part hence no wear & tear and hence
no requirement a dedicated & skilled maintenance team.

II. WHERE TO USE THE HEAT PIPES?

1. For the Enhancing Dehumidification Capacity of the Cooling

coil with following results:
a. Downsizing of the Cooling Coil & chiller hence
substantial savings on the low side installations &
operating cost.
b. Free Reheat for the Supply Air
2. For the Energy Recovery from the Exhaust Air ( from an
conditioned space ) with following results :
a. Downsizing the Cooling Coil.
b. No additional Space requirement- can be fitted in
AHU or in Ducts itself,
c. Zero cross contamination or Cross Leakage
d. No Operating or Reactivation cost.
e. Very Robust device.

III. WHY USE HEAT PIPE?

- To achieve better Indoor Air quality ( IAQ ) with maintaining a

proper Relative Humidity Level in the conditioned space to meet
ASHRAE 62-1999 standards and prevent the MOLD/ FUNGAI
growths in the supply ducts and hence prevent the building from
turning to be a SICK building in due course of time.
- By maintaining a Lower Relative Humidity of the air entering the
supply ducts thermostats can be maintained at a higher settings while
maintaining the comfort.
- To downsize/optimise the overall HVAC System including the
Cooling Coil, AHU and Chiller.
- To eliminate the requirement of additional Reheating
arrangements.
- To eliminate the requirement of intensive and periodic
maintenance.
- To minimize/eliminate the requirement of PRECIOUS and
COSTLY space in the premium building.
- To eliminate any fear of a LIFE SPAN. Heat Pipes keep on
working as long as a temperature gradient is created by the Cooling
Coil/ SA and EA streams.
- To reduce/optimize the Installed Electrical load and reduce
/optimize the Consumed electrical power.

III. HEAT PIPE BACKGROUND

- Heat pipes are in use in the field of HVAC since 1990 .
- Heat pipes are in use since mid of 1960s in the field like
Electronics and space technology.

IV. SPC HEAT PIPES

- S & P Coil products Ltd, is a United Kingdom head quartered

Specialist manufacturing company involved in the field of Heat Pipes
and other HVAC equipments since more then two decades.

- The Heat Pipes of SPC are well proven for the said performance by
EUROVENT certified Independent Test laboratories and also by the
more then 500 installations in the Middle East.
