Now that you are familiar with Poes genres, literary devices, themes, and other significant factors that made his works wonderful, it is time for you to
prove that you understand the material. Make sure that when you are writing your essay that you use any notes or sources necessary to help you. You will need to
access a copy of the short story or poem; this means that you will need to use appropriate in-text citations (MLA) and text evidence to back up your explanations
and findings. The website, prompts, and rubric are found below. Read carefully to make sure that your essay follows the requirements of the rubric.
Prompt 1: How do literary techniques in Edgar Allan Poes The Raven and The Tell-Tale Heart affect the storys meaning and effectiveness?
Directions: You may either (1) choose one story of Poes work to focus on or (2) create a compare and contrast essay between both works. Your essay must be
written in five paragraphs, which includes the introduction, three main body paragraphs, and conclusion. Make sure to specifically state your thesis, main points,
and text evidence that include appropriate in-text citations that back your findings. Use the space below for any brainstorming, Venn diagrams, or other useful
