PERFORMANCE CHECKLIST FOR ADDING ITEMS TO A STERILE FIELD

1. Set up sterile work surface.

2. Opened the sterile item following package
directions. Made sure to hold the outside
wrapper of the package in non-dominant hand.
3. Carefully peeled the wrapper down over non-
dominant hand.
4. Placed the sterile item onto the sterile field at
an angle. Ensured that the wrapper did not fall
down and contaminate the sterile field.
6. Discarded the outer wrapper of each sterile
item.
7. Repeated this process to add other sterile items
to the field as needed.
