Elk Horn
Newsletter of the Gardena Elks Lodge #1919 The Friendly Lodge

Aloha Members,
Beautiful days of sunshine and later sunsets are a reminder why we live in Southern California. I
invite you to bring family and friends to the lodge. We have some great events coming up . We're
continuing to grow out membership with initiation each month! A reminder, the success of our lodge
is determined by the willingness, participation and thoughtfulness of our members.
Your Officers and members come up with ideas, plan events and the only way that we can have a
successful event is by our members supporting, inviting friends and family to attend.
How wonderful it was to present so many 52 and century club pins and letters signed by CHEA
President Chuck Nolan this month. For those that don't make it to meetings, you should have or will
shortly receiving your pins & letters in the mail .
Please join us at our Luau on Sunday August 6,2017 in honor of CHEA 1st Vice President Robert
Duitsman and his First Lady Beth. We are fundraising for his year as CHEA President 2018-2019.
As of writing we are headed to Grand Lodge in Reno, where our very own Judy R. Sutton will be
sworn in as the South Central Coast District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler.
Our annual family picnic is coming up in September, I hope to see you and your family there, if not
sooner.

With much gratitude for your membership in our great lodge,

Alyssa Santos, PER

Hello fellow Elks,
As the days of summer wind down and fall is just around the
corner, Id like to invite all of you to join us at the lodge for our annual FAMILY PICNIC! Join
us Sunday, Sept. 17th from 11am 4pm for a day filled with good food, fun activities,
and lasting memories.
Its not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving. -Mother Teresa
Remember the reasons that lead you to become an Elk and if you havent been to the lodge in
a while, I hope youll consider coming to a meeting or attending one of our
events. Without the support of members like you, we cannot continue to be the
greatest fraternal organization in the United States.
Respectfully yours,
Michele Homer, Loyal Knight

Gardena Elks Family,

We have had a lot of new members join these past few months and they have all expressed on how
they could get involved and help. One way is just to ask all members you come in contact with what
they are involved with. The other way to understand an familiarize yourself with what you can be a
part of by simply checking out these websites: https://www.elks.org/ , https://chea-elks.org/ .
Here you will find how you can help others through Elkdom.
Brotherly Love: It softens the stern realities of life and manifests itself in good fellowship, in
sympathy, and in kindness of thought, word and deed.
Aloha,
Eric Koyangi, Your Lecturing Knight
