I have extensive experience in strategic leadership, programming and coordination of broad


based development work in the humanitarian sector. I am well versed with Government
systems, operations of International Non-Government Organizations and donor relations.

WORK EXPERIENCE
2016 to date: Country Director Build Africa Kenya with main roles of:
-Providing strategic leadership in strategy refresh process, quality programming, Child safe
guarding, fundraising, donor relations and in- country office governance
-Participating in the International Senior Management decision making meetings
-Management of national and field based staff
-Ensuring compliance with national legislative requirements
-Participating in international and national forums
-Representing the image of the organization at all levels

2015: Associate Director Education and protection with the following core
Functions ;
-Overall strategic leadership and technical guidance in development of national education
strategy, technical approaches and programmes.
- Management of over 30 technical education and protection specialists
- Guiding the national office in operationalization of all education and child protection projects
-Coordination of Gender, Disability, protection and Emergency Response mainstreaming with
other technical programmes
- Taking lead in ensuring adherence to donor accountability requirements in line with other
policies, standards and regulatory frameworks.
-Strengthening relationships with the Government, Donor support offices and other
operational partners
-Participating in international and regional community of practice and technical working groups

2012 to 2015 -National Education Coordinator, World Vision Kenya ,with core
functions of :
-Providing sound education technical expertise at the national level
-Offering quality strategic leadership for education programming in 28 programmes
-Refocusing education to the organizational priority model of ECD and improved literacy and
numeracy skills among learners
-Ensuring integration of other sectors and crosscutting themes (gender, child protection,
Emergency in education and advocacy, in education
-Leading a team of 28 field education project officers and 6 grant managers in ensuring
efficiency in implementation of education projects.
-Capacity building and orientation of education staff through training, mentorship and coaching.

2010 to 2012 -Senior Principal Education Administration officer Teachers Service

-Initiate and strengthen partnership with Government Ministries, departments, development
partners, Civil Society and relevant education stakeholders.
-Develop teacher training manuals on identified training themes
-Coordinate training for teachers on Peace building through education, child protection,
counselling, positive approaches to discipline and quality learning among others.
-Develop relevant education policies, frameworks and training materials
- Provide Guidance, Counseling and psychosocial services to staff and teachers.

2007 to 2010-Senior Education officer Ministry of Education with core functions of


-Overseeing the National Peace Education Programme in the education sector
-Coordinating workshops to equip teachers and education officers with skills and knowledge on
harmonious coexistence.
-Developing materials for child friendly schools under UNICEF funded project
-Development of education training manuals and other psychosocial self-help materials
-Coordinating and participating in national and international education stakeholders forums
-Coordinating Psychosocial intervention programmes

-Equipping senior public servants with skills of managing work place, individual and family

-Sensitizing Government employees on intrapersonal and interpersonal skills

-Fundraising through proposal development and concept writing
-Strengthening school management and governance in 380 institutions under OPEC funded
project.
- Coordination of community mobilization, advocacy, project implementation and sustainability
