The article Transgender Prejudice and the Belief in a Biological Basis for Gender talks

about the opinions and prejudices of transgender people and how those opinions are affected by

what we believe. In the article there was a study that had a group of people read one of three

fake articles. One of the articles explained that sexual identity is purely based on biological

factors. The study revealed that people who believed that sexual identity is biologically based,

are more likely to have negative feelings towards the subject. In this study, people who read

articles that did not associate with the biologically basis of biology tend to have more positive

feelings towards the subject. The article is showing how opinions are formulated based on what

information we are given.

The article Earths mantle deep beneath the North Island volcano zone is melting talks

about how the Earths mantle underneath the North Island, located in New Zealand is starting to

melt away. Researchers have been studying a region in New Zealand, called Lake Taupo. Lake

Taupo is the site of one of the largest volcanic eruptions in history. The mantle layer lies deep

beneath the earths surface. The researchers are studying the movements of the melting mantle

and trying to correlate that to the movements of the earths surface. This could indicate possible

volcanic eruptions in the future. The article states that the research is not an indicator of any

immediate threat of activity. However, the information learned from this research can be a help

in predicting long term future activity.
