    Tutorial Questions (Week starting 3rd April, 2017)

    1. What arguments can you make for the idea of single language for all programming
    domains?

    2. Why there are so many programming languages?

    3. Name and explain another criterion by which languages can be judged.

    4. Explain the different aspects of the cost of a programming language.

    5. Explain some design trade-offs between efficiency and safety in some language you
    know.

    6. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of some programming environments you have
    used.

    7. Many contemporary languages allow two kinds of comments: one in which delimiters is
    used on both ends, and one in which a delimiter marks only the beginning of the
    comment. Discuss advantages and disadvantages of each of these with respect to our
    criteria.
