PRESENT CONTINUOUS

1. We use the present continuous to talk about things happening at the


moment of speaking

The girls are doing their homework now


Alex is in the bathroom. Hes taking a shower
Dont make a noise. Im listening to the radio

2. We form the present continuous with the present simple of be + ing of


the verb

Im having lunch Youre shouting!


Hes playing volleyball Were sitting in the garden
Its raining Theyre studying in the library

3. We make questions and short answers with the question form of be +


ing form of the verb

Am/ Is/ Are + subject + verb with ing + ?

Example: Are you reading now?

In short answers, we only repeat am/is/are. We dont repeat the verb with
ing

Example:

Is he working right now?

Yes, he is
No, he isnt

4. We make negatives with the negative form of be + ing form of the verb

Am/ is/ are + not + verb with ing

I am not working
Im not
He / She is not working
(isnt)

We/ You / They are not working
