THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD

Two babies were in a mothers womb. One asked the other:

Do you believe in life after delivery? The other replied, Why, of course.
There has to be something after delivery. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will
be later.

Nonsense said the first. There is no life after delivery. What kind of life would that be?

The second said, I dont know, but there will be more light than here. Maybe we will walk with our
legs and eat from our mouths. Maybe we will have other senses that we cant understand now.

The first replied, That is absurd. Walking is impossible. And eating with our mouths? Ridiculous!
The umbilical cord supplies nutrition and everything we need. But the umbilical cord is so short.
Life after delivery is to be logically excluded.

The second insisted, Well I think there is something and maybe its different than it is here. Maybe
we wont need this physical cord anymore.

The first replied, Nonsense. Moreover, if there is life, then why no one has ever come back from
there? Delivery is the end of life, and in the after-delivery, there is nothing but darkness, silence,
and oblivion. It takes us nowhere.

Well, I dont know, said the second, but certainly we will meet Mother and she will take care of
us.

The first replied Mother? You actually believe in Mother! That is laughable. If Mother exists then
where is she now?

The second said, She is all around us. She surrounds us. We are of her. It is in her that we live.
Without her this world would not and could not exist.

The first said, Well I dont see her, so it is only logical that she doesnt exist.

The second replied, Sometimes, when you are in silence and you focus and you really listen, you
can perceive her presence, and you can hear her loving voice, calling down from above.

Like the act of being born, and of giving birth, Jesus transfiguration shows us how he was prepared
to experience the pain of crucifixion because he is sure of being born to everlasting life. We might
be facing a painful decision right now. We are empowered to make the right decision in the face of
suffering through the knowledge that we are in the womb of God, and that Jesus has won a place
for us in heaven after death.

SUNDAY MORNING RELIGIOUS
INSTRUCTIONS
For Children attending State Schools
If you wish to enrol your child/children for
the 2017/2018 Programme in preparation
for
1) Pre- Communion (age 6-7);
2) First Communion (age 8 and above);
3) Post Communion (for children already
completed their First Communion
Programme.
Please take a REGISTRATION FORM from
the BLACK FOLDER on the shelf at the
BACK of the CHURCH - fill it in; attach
copies of Birth and Baptism Certificates of
the child and return as soon as possible to
the Parish Office, 4 Vincent Road. (only1
application to date)
NOTE CHANGE IN THE PROGRAMME:
The Religious Instruction programme
for 2017-2018 will be held on
SUNDAYS 10am 10.55am.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR
ADULTS (RCIA):
If you are interested in preparing for your
First Communion, Confirmation or
exploring your faith, please complete an
application form available at the back of
the church and contact the Parish Office.
The programme will start on
7th OCTOBER 17 Jubilee Hall:
4.00-5:45pm - Followed by 6pm Mass.
THE CELEBRATION OF BAPTISM
If you would like to have your child
baptised on the 9th September or later, the
next session will be on Monday 4th and
18th Sept 17 at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall.
Please contact the Parish Office to book
your place on the course.
Parents whose children were baptised in
July and August are reminded that the 2nd
session on Monday 18th Sept.
FAREWELL TO FR. DAMIAN:
We will have a formal farewell for
Fr. Damian
on Sunday 20th August at 11am Mass
and afterwards in our Parish Hall.
As a token of appreciation for his time with
us since September last year, there will be a
Retiring Collection on the weekend of
13th August and a presentation on the
20th.
We invite people to bring a plate / dish of
food to share. Please see the list and note
that these foods need to be in place before
Mass on 20th August. Thank you!

Sadly we have to cancel the pilgrimage in
honour of Our Lady, Queen of Peace on
Monday 28th August; due to insufficient
people booking.
NEW FOUNDATION DEGREE FOR
CATHOLICS WORKING IN HEALTHCARE
AND THOSE SEEKING TO BE CHAPLAINS.
Starting in October, St Marys University
Twickenham is pleased to offer a new
foundation degree in Healthcare Ethics,
Theology and Care. This is a part time two
year programme for those seeking to be
hospital chaplains and for people working
in healthcare settings, from care homes, to
hospices and hospitals. Lectures and
seminars take place at St Marys one
evening a week and additional lectures and
resources are available online. If you are
interested in applying or finding out more

SYRIAN REFUGEES
The Haringey parishes are exploring the
possibility of housing a Syrian refugee
family with the support of the
governments Community Sponsorship
scheme. One essential requirement is to
find a house or flat for a family. If you might
be able to help with this, please
contact Father David Ardagh-Walter on

We shall need a number of other helpers,
but accommodation is key to this project.
