Teaching strategies to Meet the needs of students across a full range of abilities.

David: Gifted and talented

Bruce: Low social and emotional self-concept.
Narjui: ELA student with low socio-economic background.

Bruce: Through collaboration with others and exposure to a dynamic multi-modal manipulative learning
space this pedagogy is focused on self-concept, self-esteem and most importantly for this avatar self-
efficacy (Woolfolk & Margettes, 2010). Low self-efficacy can lead a student to just score average across
the neurodevelopmental eight domains. There are two contemporary theories Hiele and Clement (Van De
Walle, Karp & Bay-Williams, 2010) that underpin developing the concept of shape for young children.

Narjuis: Catering for student diversity through personalized learning for Narjuis educational needs, the
Australian Curriculum provides flexibility in how the curriculum can be viewed. The curriculum can be
filtered to view the childs general capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities to which can be embedded
in the learning area content (ACARA, 2014). Melbourne Declaration emphasizes the significance of
understanding each learning area, general capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities as the foundation for
a curriculum designed to support modern day teachings. The Australian Curriculum is formed by these
three dimensions, and it is the relationship between these dimensions that provides flexibility for schools
and teachers to promote personalized learning that aims to fulfil the diverse capabilities of each young
Australian (as cited in ACARA, 2014). This provides a high quality and creative differentiations of
instruction and curriculum to meet the needs of Narjui in an inclusive setting.

Since being an ESL student studying Maths it is not very difficult to understand however as mentioned
before there are language structures and vocabulary which are to its learning domain. The teachers
should take this fact into consideration while catering to an inclusive class that things are best taught in
the context in which they are used (ACARA, 2014). Therefore, identifying the need of vocabulary being
used in specialist ways and explicitly teaching the difference between the different usages would
contribute to the avatars literacy and mathematical skills (ACARA,2014).

David: Per the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority a gifted or a talented student,
has the right to relevant and engaging learning activities in the classroom taken from the Australian
curriculum. The Australia curriculum has based the understanding of giftedness on the Gagnes Model.
Whereby giftedness is viewed in some or all the following areas. Intellect, social, physical and creative
having natural abilities and placed in the top 10% of the school. Consequently, in the future modified
curriculum may be used not only for him rather also the rest of the class. This in turn will affect not only
Davids learning rather also attempt to challenge the class and encourage higher thinking between peers
and increase engagement of those students who will benefit from the extra challenges.
