SECTION 15994 PLATE HEAT EXCHANGERS

1.0 GENERAL

Plate heat exchangers shall be of the cleanable extended surface pressed metal
type forming passages for the relevant fluids between which the heat is to be
transferred. The form of the pressings shall be as appropriate for the application.

The plates shall be supported and compressed in a frame with a fixed frame plate
and an adjustable pressure plate held in place by clamping bolts. The entire
assembly shall be suspended from an upper carrying bar, a lower guide bar shall
also be fitted. The carry bars shall be suitable for the addition of an extra 10% of
plates without alteration.

The plates shall be made from Grade 316 stainless steel or titanium as required and
shall be fitted with a nitrile rubber field and ring gasket to form alternate passages for
water or brine.

After assembly the heat exchangers shall be pressure tested on site for leaks to 1.3
times the design pressure.
