Homework:
Homework assignments are designed to provide students with opportunities to reinforce practice and apply previous learning.
Assignments take approximately 30 minutes every night to complete. Homework is assigned daily and will be due during the next
class meeting. Answers will be provided during the next class meeting and solutions will be reviewed. Original problems must be
written down, as well as all supporting work for each problem in order to receive full credit on a homework assignment.

Homework Grading Policy: Homework grades are assigned based on effort and completion.
0: Less than 25% completed, or did not show supporting work, etc
1: Less than 50% completed, or did not show all supporting work, etc
2: Less than 75% completed, or did not show all supporting work, etc
3: Less than 100% completed, or did not show all supporting work, etc
4: 100% Complete (All problems attempted, essentially correct process, and all supporting work
is shown)
Quiz Re-Takes:
There will be two quizzes given every chapter. A student is only allowed to re-take ONE of the two quizzes per chapter, which will be
his or her choice. In order to re-take a quiz, it must be done prior to the chapter test. Quiz re-takes must be completed after school.
The original quiz grade and the quiz re-take grade will be averaged together. This new average will replace the original quiz grade.
Note: If the quiz re-take grade is lower than the original quiz grade, this WILL cause the original grade to decrease accordingly
once averaged. A student may only take one re-take attempt per quiz. Quiz re-takes are not limited to failing quiz grades alone.
There are never any re-takes offered on tests.

Calculator:
It is a common misconception with our district going one-to-one with iPads that students no longer need a handheld calculator for
math class because of the free and available calculator apps that they can download. It is still a NECESSITY that students come to
class with a Texas Instruments Scientific Calculator ( $15) or a TI-84 Graphing Calculator ( $100). iPads are not allowed to be used
th
on the MCAS exam in 10 Grade or their in-class tests and quizzes. Students should buy at least a scientific calculator for Geometry,
but the graphing calculator recommended above is MANDATORY for all levels of Algebra 2 (next years math course), so a scientific
calculator will only be sufficient for one more year maximum. Students need to be familiar with the specific calculator that they will
th
be bringing with them into the MCAS exam in their 10 grade year to be able to use its functions appropriately during the test.

Late Work Policy:
No late work will be accepted. This includes homework assignments.

If a Student Is Absent
1. Sign into Google Classroom and download the completed math notes that you missed that day from under the
About tab. Read the notes for comprehension. Make note of any questions you have BEFORE returning to class.
2. Email the teacher to make arrangements to stay after school for extra help if you dont understand the notes.
3. Check Google Classroom to see if any homework was assigned that day. Be aware of the policy in the student
handbook for submitting your work from an absence.

Cell Phone/iPad Misuse:
Cell phones will not be allowed in class at any time for non-academic purposes. iPads should be brought to class fully charged and
used responsibly for academic purposes only. Review the student handbooks policies on cell phone/iPad misuse in the classroom.
