PROFILE
Huang grew up in America and China. She is the winner of a 2016 Write Bloody Poetry Chapbook
contest, an Andrew Julius Gutow Academy of American Poets Prize, a Regents Arts & Humanities
Award finalist, a James F. Parker Award in Poetry, a 2015 YoungArts Finalist prize, and more. This past
summer she was the youngest attendant of the Iowa Writers Workshop summer graduate session. She
is a VONA alum. Her first chapbook, Favorite Daughter, will be out in fall 2017 (Write Bloody Press).

I pitched weekly articles and wrote daily tech updates for the most widely-circulated newspaper in the
city of Austin. Editorial work also included contacting and interviewing multiple sources for breaking
news stories, corroborating facts and data in numbers-heavy news pieces, and working on strict
deadlines. I lived-tweeted event coverage and did minor PR duties as well.

As a proofer and editor, I fact-checked copy and spreads for each weekly issue before publication.

I have assisted undergraduate students in the planning, composition, and revision of written work for
courses and applications. As a consultant, I went through a whole semester of training and have
completed over 500 hours of writing consultations at one of the largest writing centers in the country.

I solicited prose entries from writers like Brynne Rebele-Henry, Talin Tahajian, and Aidan Forster, as well
as read prose pieces for Adroit Issues 5, 6, 7, and 8. In all, I screened and edited 750+ Adroit Journal
contest entries during award season.

As part of a team of writing advisors, I helped put together a syllabus for online workshops like We
Sweat Honeysuckle (for writers of color), Orchids Without Attached Thighs (for femme and nonbinary
writers), and The Night Market, a weekly column focusing on Asian-American art. I advised groups of
4-5 writers in month-long writing workshops, hosted word wars and daily autowrites, and solicited
influential guest speakers like Hanif Abdurraquib, Tarfia Faizullah, and Danez Smith.
