Types of Menu:

1. A la Carte menu

The A la Carte menu prices each food item separately; it often contains greater choices for the
customer. There are any number of combinations a customer can choose for his/her meal from an
A la Carte menu. Although the price of A la Carte items are more expensive than those from a
Table d'Hote menu, a customer is allowed greater flexibility and is offered greater value in terms
of food quality.

2. Semi A la Carte Menu

It is when items are served together and priced as a combination. Entrees' maybe be priced with
the inclusion of a side dish, while the appetizer, soup, and dessert are priced seperatly.

3. Wine/Beverage Menu

Many restaurants offer a beverage and wine menu for their customers. These menus often
include specialty wines, teas, coffees, and cocktails. There may even be suggestions on which
wine best accompanies a particular meal.

4. Static Menu

Static menus are offered all-year long. This type of menu is most prevalent in fast-food
restaurants like Macdonalds, Pizza Hut, and Burger King. For example, Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish,
McChicken, and Quarter-Pounder burgers are standard Macdonalds fare

5. Du Jour Menu

This type of menu references a special dish for the day. The Du Jour menu can change daily and
often depends on the availability of seasonal items.

6. Dessert Menu

Dessert menus offer desserts that are specific to particular restaurants. Included in these dessert
menus may be specialty desserts the restaurants are famous for.

7. Cycle Menu

These menus offer specific items for each day. For example, fish may be served every Friday,
Italian every Saturday, etc. The cycles do not have to run weekly but may run bi-weekly,
monthly, etc.
8. Table d'hte Menu

In restaurant terminology a table d'hte (French pronunciation: [tabl.dot]; lit. "table of the host")
menu is a menu where multi-course meals with only a few choices are charged at a fixed total
price. Such a menu may be called prix fixe ("fixed price"). The terms set meal and set menu are
also used.

9. Buffet Menu

These are menus used in a buffet setup.

10. Banquet Menu

These are menus that list the food served by a catering / function company.

11. Breakfast Menu

It can be Ala Carte or Semi Ala Carte. The Ala Carte Segment in breakfast menu offers juices,
eggs, fruits, cereals, pancakes, French toasts, waffles, coffee and other baked goods.

12. Luncheon Menu

It is a menu that offers appetizer, salads, cold and hot sandwiches, entrees, desserts and
beverages.

13. Dinner Menu

It offers more appetizers and entrees that Luncheon Menu and follows either American, Russian
or French service.

14. California Menu

It is a menu in which any food is available in any point of the day.

15. Ethnic Menu

It is a menu that offers food items that are representative of the particular area or cuisine.

16. Specialty Menu

It is an amalgamation of Ala Carte and Semi A la Carte Menu

17. Lounge Menu

It is a menu that lists the food that is served in a certain inns, hotels and spas.
