Message From Presidente Dayton

There is No Other Way

We live in a time of great political correctness. It is expected that all agree on politically
correct ideas so that we dont offend anyone. People often say, There is good in all religions.
They are all headed the same way. Different religions just have a different way of getting
there than others. After hearing this, we are all supposed to agree because it sounds so
politically correct and we certainly dont want to offend anyoneespecially as it relates to
religion. There is just one problemit is completely and totally false. Yes, there is good in all
religions. However, they are NOT all headed the same direction because they all teach
different doctrines, advocate different practices, and do things that Jesus or the prophets
never taught. Next, in fact the different way they use to get there will NOT get them where
they want to go. If that were so our God would be a god of confusion. Ephesians 4:5
declares, One Lord, one faith, one baptism. It is a false teaching of men that any route they
want to take will lead them back to the presence of God. With the restoration of the gospel,
the Lord makes this pretty clear.

In 2nd Nephi 31 we are counselled by Nephi as to why men must follow Christ, be baptized,
receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and endure to the end. Verse 21 states, And now, behold,
my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is no other way nor name given under heaven
whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of
Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
Here we are told pretty explicitly that there is only one true doctrine and only one way to
return to live with our Father. But, you ask, how can I know which of all the Christian faiths on
the face of the earth is THAT ONE TRUE FAITH. Interestingly, that is exactly the question that
Joseph Smith asked when he went into the grove of trees that day to pray. After recovering
from the overwhelmingly incredible appearance of the Father and the Son, Joseph Smith had
the courage to ask which of the churches he should join. The answer is found in Pearl of Great
Price, Joseph Smith 1:19 which answers, I was answered that I must join none of them, for
they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an
abomination in his sight;.. The Prophet was then told that if he were faithful and worthy, he
would be used as an instrument in the hands of the Lord to bring the true church of Jesus
Christ back to earth with the same authority and organization as existed in the primitive
Church.

In other words, Joseph Smith was to bring back to earth the gospel referred to in 2nd Nephi
when he says there is no other way. This is confirmed when we read in Section 1 of the
Doctrine and Covenants verse 30 which refers to the Prophet Joseph when it says, (that he
might ) have power to lay the foundation of this church, and to bring it forth out of obscurity
and out of darkness, the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth, with
which I, the Lord, am well pleased The Lord makes it pretty clear here that only one church
carries His imprimaturThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this same wonderful
section, the Prophet is then told to carry this gospel to all of the world. Why would that
commission be given if the Christian world was already in the right!

Thus, my beloved fellow missionaries, when we say that we are going out to invite others to
come unto Christ, we arent doing it in a generic way. We are doing it in a very specific way
despite the seeming lack of political correctness. Our mission is to tell the world that none of the
other churches is correct; the people of the world need to be admonished to join none of them.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only church with whom the Lord is well
pleased. It contains His doctrine, His power, His authority, His revelations, and his ordinances.
And, if we believe 2nd Nephi 31, in this Church is found the only and true doctrine of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. There is NO other way. You may be given some form of
heavenly reward for your goodness in another church, but without accepting and living the
truths found in the restored gospel, being baptized and enduring to the endworlds without
end you can not be saved and return to live in the presence of the Lord. That is why each of
you have left your homes for 18-24 monthsthat is why you labor so diligently in the streets and
homes of Spain, that is why you turn your life over to the Savior. What we are doing MATTERSit
matters deeply and it matters eternally. May all of you understand why we must not surrender to
the temptation to be politically correct. While we should be kind, respectful and understanding
of otherson this issues we must be very clearthere is no other way than to be baptized into
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Message From Hermana Dayton

This past week president and I had the opportunity of attending the Senior and Married
Missionary Couples Zone Conference in Andorra. President and Hermana Fowers graciously
offered to organize and host the conference. They spent many, many hours arranging visits to
churches, an ice house, to the neighbors, to mountainsides and ancient bridges, all to give us
a flavor of beautiful Andorra. We so enjoyed the remarkable adventures we experienced
together. As we always do at a conference like this, we had a 3 hour meeting with our
couples and each reported on what they were doing in their area along with sharing a
spiritual experience they had had since the last conference. We heard reports on family
home evenings being held, temple trips, family history work, ward activities, piso
improvements, health and wellness and so much more. As I sat in the room and heard how
these missionaries were magnifying their callings I thought about what remarkable
missionaries they are! They have left family, grandchildren and dear friends to serve the Lord.
These couples are using their own money to live here in Spain to bless your lives, our lives and
the good people of Spain. In my mind I thought of all they could be using their money
for...boats, cars, new furniture or travel to see the world. But they have decided to serve the
Savior and make a difference in building His kingdom.

Yesterday we were privileged to host meetings and a luncheon of the five Stake Presidents,
the District President, Elder and Sister Nelson of the Madrid Temple, and Elder and Sister
Obando , our Area Seventy. To prepare our office for their visit, our office staff (Elders
Hemeyer, Perri, Jones and Hale ) Elder and Sister Morejon, Elder and Sister Brammar and Elder
and Sister Streeter worked together to do the final clean up and organization of our new
office. Our wonderful couples worked tirelessly scrubbing walls, floors, bathroom and kitchen,
organizing the storage room, kitchen and supplies. As the stake presidents arrived many
commented on the beautiful environment, the cleanliness and the spirit they felt. One stake
president commented to me that it was a celestial place and the Spirit of the Lord was
present. How grateful we were to our staff for their sacrifice and service . These are people
who are "going about doing much good" to bless all of our lives. I have reflected much on
their desire to do anything and everything...even mundane jobs to accomplish the Lord's
purposes. I also thought of the Savior when He said, "Whoso is greatest among you, let him be
your servant."

I have pondered much over the years asking, "what is it about our faith that makes people
unselfishly surrender their life to the Savior and serve Him." Surely it is a sign of the true church
because true christians have always been characterized by the service they render. We love
these remarkable missionary couples and each of you. We feel honored and privileged for the
opportunity to witness such remarkable service.

The Miracle of Baptism

This week we had a pretty had and how now she is thought she was going
special miracle in the form of
two baptisms in one night. My
first night in the area we visited very firm testimony and wow
with Yadira and Elder _____
had me extend the baptismal
invitation with a fecha for the
following Saturday. She said
yes. Later that same night we
had a visit with Lolli and talked lives and I'm so grateful to be
to her a little about her
upcoming baptism which was
for the same night. On
Saturday we got everything
prepared for the two baptisms,
including setting up and filling
up the baptismal font. After all
the preparations were made it
was time for the baptism to
begin. Elder _____ was to
baptize Lolli and he gave me Saturday was the baptism of
privilege of baptizing Yadira.
This was the first person I have
ever baptized so I wanted to
do a good a job. I went over
the prayer over and over
again in my head. Elder _____
baptized Lolli and then I got in
the font and baptized Yadira.
Afterwards they were both
beaming and seemed very
happy. The spirit was definitely
present during the baptism.
This week was the week of Lilia
and Pau's baptism! It was
amazing! They are so happy!
It's amazing to see the change
in them; I'm super grateful to
be able to see them all the
way through. There is a huge
progression in them. They really
have a testimony in the
church. It almost doesn't seem
real to have seen her and her
son get baptized. The program
went well. A lot of the ward
was there to support her and
during the testimony of Lilia
she told about all the trials she At first I was confused and
starting over or a new period
of her life. They both have a
the spirit was so strong during
her baptism. It's just more of a a call from an old investigator
testimony to me that this is
the true church on the earth
today. The gospel changes
able to be a part of it. More
than anything they are
happy to be a part of it as

and of course I said yes. We
were originally supposed

changed her mind that night.
I was a little nervous because
she isn't the smallest person I
have baptized! But the
baptism was great and very
spiritual! Then the blessings
continue to come when
Sunday came. We had
planned on going to pick up
Carmen before church and
to call to confirm before. But
she didn't answer when we
called. We still decided to
head over to her house to
see if we could get a hold of
her. After saying a quick
prayer about what we should
do, I felt that we needed to
go over even though I didn't
know why. As we started Hola Presidente, Espero que

she was coming with us! Then
while we were at church I got
that I hadn't talked to for 3 or
4 weeks. Then he was there in
the church! He just decided
to come on his own! That was
a miracle and a blessing that
I saw this week!

blessing to have Andres'
baptism and confirmation. I
have been so excited and
anxious for this special day
and it finally came. Seeing
Andres progress towards his
baptismal date has been a
real miracle and I know it all
comes from the help of the
Lord. Andres is very a special
person to me, he actually is
very similar to my father and
reminds me a lot of him. I
obviously wasn't able to see
my dad yesterday for Father's
Day but seeing Andres be
baptized and confirmed was
just as great. I love seeing
people enter into the waters
of baptism. It's the first step to
eternal life. It's always my
favorite part to hear them
share their testimonies
afterwards. It's always so
sincere and from the heart. I
know our Heavenly Father is
content with his decision.
We're motivated and ready
to work hard and find more
people this transfer.

Thank you so much for taking
the time to meet Wesley; he
was baptized this week! After
3 weeks of teaching, our
brother from Ghana was
ready to be baptized. He said
that there were many
churches in his country and
that it was too hard to discern
the truth for himself. When he
came here he said that it was
very clear. He intends to
return home in September
and have missionary
discussions with his wife and
three sons. We are excited to
stay in contact with him and
see how the Lord will
continue to bless his family. It
was a great pleasure to
baptize him. He was very
heavy at around 120 kilos
and he floated like a log :)
But after a few hard tries he
went down and he loved it!
When I was in the bathroom
he asked me: "Why was I
baptized so many times?"
Got him the fourth try;/ I
explained that baptism has to

happy that here you take
such things so seriously, now I
know that I have been
properly baptized." Not a bad
turn out trying to bury that big
brother :)
I have really started to feel
the spirit so much more. We
have seen so many miracles
this week. There was a
baptism in the church this last
Saturday and as we are on
our way to the baptism we
met a nice Bolivian lady
name Estaqoea. As we were
teaching her in the street she
had inspired questions and
the spirit was giving us
answers. The baptism was
about to start and we had to
go so we invited her to the
baptism. She said she was
tired and didn't want to
come but she felt compelled
to come. She came to the
baptism and we were able to
set a visit for the following
Tuesday. When she left she
said she loved the baptism
and learned a lot. She also
told us that she was not
planning on taking the route
home that she took. It was
such a blessing to have a
huge miracle after we have
worked hard. Let's jump into
the email with the most
exciting news which is Jesus.
He is a man from Peru who

has been living in Spain for
many years but around
eight years ago he met
Cecilia, a member of one
maybe two years. They fell in
love and three years ago
they got married. The
missionaries have been
teaching him ever since.
Jesus has always said that
he will get baptized when
he feels it is right in his heart
not when the missionaries tell
him to. Recently he has had
his first baby girl who he just
wants the best for. The best
would be for her to grow up
in the church is what he had
thought one day. As the
Hermanas were teaching
him they shared a general
conference talk that was
specifically for the family
and friends of the members.
It touched his heart and he
decided it was time to take
the lessons seriously. We
went to visit him this past
Saturday and to our surprise
he told us he is ready to be
baptized whenever we are.
Normally you don't hear that
on the mission but when you
do you make sure you do
everything to make it
happen. Jesus is going to be
baptized July 1st the ward is
so excited for his baptism
they have been with him for
years and can't wait to help
them.
