Guideline Alignmentfor Surface Pump STDP D301

1, Scope of applicatiOn

This guideline shows the criteria for pump/r otOr alignment of surface standard pumps with

flexible fianged shaft couplings unless other specific instruction.

2. Pump alignment procedu e

(1)PttOr tO performing pump/motor alignment,place the base with a pump and a motOr
mounted on a plain base orlifting equipment for alignment.

(2)Piace a straight edge on the surfaces on the outer periphery of the cOuplings(four
pOsitiOnsi top buttOn, right, and left)tO Cheek that the level ditterence (5)Of the

couplings is O.05 mm o less and that there is no wedge shaped gap as evidence that

the coupling surfaces are not para el.

(3)lf suCh Wedge shaped gap is found in Step(2),use a taper gauge or a feeler gauge to
check,at four positions(top,button, ight,and left)on the couplings,thatthe maximum

distance between the couplings lAl A2)iS O lmm less.

(2)Do not perforrn adiuStment using a temperature difference(hOt alignment)exCept for the
case in which Design Dept,specifically g es the instruction to do so.(It means that the

displacement by temperature difference is ignorable for standard pump)

1. Scope
This appendix specifies the rneasurement procedure and the iudging criteria of runout of a
flexible fianged coupling fitted to a shaft of surface standard pumps.

2. Measurement procedu e
2 l Runout ofthe outer periphery
Measure radiat runout by setting an indicator on the outer periphery of the flexible
coupling fitted to the shafts and rotating the shaft.

2 2 Runout ofthe coupling surface

Measure axial runout by setting an indicator on the surface of the flexible couplings fitted
to the shafts and rotating the shaft.

3. udging criteria
The criteria are described belowi however,remember that the instructions specifica y given
by Design Dept.via the r anufacturing specifications or othe documents overrides the criteria
herein,if any.
