COURSE OUTLINE:
This class is an introduction to glass, metals, and jewelry. In this course, you will be exposed to a variety of
different techniques and forms. You will learn to think creatively, problem solve, and appreciate this three-
dimensional form of art. The units we will be covering include the following:
You will also be required to complete sketchbook assignments throughout the semester.
SUPPLIES:
There is a $35 fee. This fee will cover materials that you will receive during the year.
A pencil, paper/sketchbook, and folder should be brought to class every day. This will be used
for taking notes and designing projects.
HOMEWORK:
Students will have a bi-weekly sketchbook assignment. Each assignment will take between 30-
60min to complete.
Due to the equipment used in this class, most assignments will need to be finished in the room.
If projects are not completed by the due date, you must arrange a time to come in and complete
the project.
EVALUATION:
The class is divided into 3 sections:
1. Sketchbook assignments/ Process (25%)
2. Quizzes/ Critiques (15%)
3. Projects (60%)
SAFETY:
At the beginning of each project that requires students to use hazardous materials
and/or equipment, students will be required to pass a safety quiz with 100%
accuracy. Any student seen not practicing safety procedures will be removed from the
assignment and reassigned to a written assignment equivalent to the project in points
and difficulty. If the student is unsure about procedures, materials, or equipment they
must ask the teacher.
