This business example provides context for how a Cleansing Package can be used within a
Data Cleanse transform. In Cleansing Package Builder, the data steward can also setup how
to create a standard description, including any punctuation.

Match Review Feature

In an enterprise landscape, the same record may exist in dierent source systems, but with
some variations. Duplicate records may also exist in the same system. The process of
identifying and consolidating duplicate data is important because it delivers direct cost
savings by eliminating redundant data, and improves business process eciency. Typically,
automated data quality processes are deployed to cleanse data, standardize it, and de-
duplicate matching records. However, manual intervention is unavoidable when these
automated processes cannot determine the duplicate records with enough condence.
The Match Review feature in Information Steward enables data stewards to review the results
of automated matching from SAP Data Services jobs, and to make any necessary corrections.
After you determine which duplicate records belong in the match group, the next step is to
merge the information from duplicate records into a single best record that can be used as a
reference record for all the downstream processes.
