Umar Zamir

Upper Second Class Bsc Hons in Chemistry

with Chemical Engineering with one year
Industrial Experience

PERSONAL PROFILE:

I am a strong fine candidate presently studying a part-time MSc Chemical Engineering with design at the University of
Manchester accredited by the International Chemical Engineering Association as I feel strongly about pursuing my career in
this field as it holds my biggest interests, but this does not stop me from driving other roles to my full ability. I and my work
colleagues see myself to perform in many jobs as my abilities to adapt and to learn tasks are very efficient be it physical or
mental.

I am well-Organized and a swift learner, highly communicative at all times and a motivator to my surrounding’s with great
inter-personal skills, fully loaded with energy and vigour at all times pushing me to the maximum level of quality work,
accomplishing it to the highest standard within health and safety regulations, either working alone or as part of a team and
driving every role required to fulfil the needs of a task.

Specific abilities

 Managing people  Analysis and development of products and processes for

 Technical problem solving energy efficient and greener Environment
 Dealing with customer needs and demands  A good level of presentation skills
 Analyzing and performing work on pilot plants  Analytical lab work
 Supervision of plant processes  Technical assistant
 General laboratory skills using and creating new  Excellent level of IT skills
efficient methods  Work under high pressured environment

Brief view of work done on course

A deeper insight of modules taken can be requested please feel free to ask, the most important tasks I have chosen are as
follows:

 Mathematical problems solving or using formulae such as integration and differentiation

 Use of design equations in processes involving different reactor processes
 Performed work on liquid purification pilot plant manual controls
 Course representative for three years consecutive dealing with student problems
 Use of computer simulation programmes
 Use of laboratory equipment
 Presentation and preparation of safe laboratory practice in high staffed environments
 Organise work to meet all deadlines set
 Use of graphical methods to present work

Research project
Research project studied was based on heat exchangers experimenting to find the most efficient mode of heat transfer across
two streams, the work involved using cooling towers fan assisted or draft, plate heat exchangers, concentric tube and
jacketed pan using immersed coil, using these pilots my aim was to analyse different variables and how they effected the
process and to obtain best mode of heat exchange which is necessary in this day and age to use energy in the most efficient
manner.

I worked at all times to my full ability, generally I was taken on as a lab assistant working along with research development
scientists, but worked in a number departments to broaden my skills, filing and ordering chemicals, using databases
updating and listing, in which the role involved high levels of communication with workforce to complete tasks efficiently
and correctly within a given timeline.

Other work involved using graphical methods to express product properties and rates of reaction of processes in
development for the future work, research in developing cheaper chemical alternatives involved in products by either
keeping or improving the product quality.
