Eligibility

AllStudentsmusthaveanupdatedphysical(EL2),whichisgoodfor12months.
Everystudentmusthaveasignedparentpermissionform(EL3)thatisupdated
eachschoolyear.
 PerBayDistrictPolicy,allstudentsmusthaveproofofinsurance;Medicaidisnot
acceptableasaformofinsurance.SchoolHealthinsuranceisavailablefor

MiddleSchool:
studentmustmaintaina2.0GPAwithnomorethan1Ffromtheprevious9
weeks.
Tobeeligibleforthe1st9weekperiod,thestudentmusthavebeenpromoted
fromtheirpreviousgrade.
Thestudentmayonlyparticipateoneyearateachgradelevel.
Inordertopracticeorparticipateinextracurricularevent,astudentmustbein
attendanceaminimumof4classesthedayoftheevent.
Anystudentwhoreceives4unexcusedabsencesinoneclasswillbeineligible
duringthat9weekgradingperiod

HighSchool:
Beginning with students entering the 9th grade a student who reaches the age of 19
on or after September 1st, and who has not exceeded his/her four-year limit of
eligibility, may participate in interscholastic athletics during that school year.
MusthaveacumulativeGPAof2.0
Thestudentsmayhaveamaximumof4consecutiveyearsofopportunityfor
athleticeligibilityfromthedateofenteringthe9thgrade.
Inordertopracticeorparticipateinextracurricularevent,astudentmustbein
attendanceaminimumof200minutesofthedayoftheevent.

Athleticparticipationisaprivilegenotaright.Toearnthisprivilege,students
mustabidebytherulesandmeetstandardsofacademicperformanceandpersonal
behaviorthatarerelatedtoschoolpurposes.
Playersareexpectedtoattendallpractices,gamesandfundraisersontimeand
throughcompletion.
Playersareexpectedtotakeprideintheirscheduledprogrambyhelpingsetup,
breakdown,andcleanupthefacilities.
 Playersmustfinishonesportbeforetheywillbeallowedtostartanewsport.Ifa
studentquitsorisremovedfromtheteambyacoach,thatplayerisnoteligibleto
participateinthesecondsportuntilthefirstsportseasonhasended.
Playersmustpayforitemsthatwereissuedtothemthattheylost.Ifaplayerfails
topayforlostitems,theywillnotbeallowedtoparticipateinanysportorreceive
theirdiplomauntiltheissueisresolved.
AnyplayeractionsthatresultintheschoolreceivingafinefromtheFHSAAwill
berequiredtopaysaidfee.Playerwillnotbeallowedtoparticipateinanyextra
curricularactivityuntilthefineispaidinfull.

DisciplineGuidelines:
Itisuptoeachcoachtoprovidedisciplineforthatteamsprogram.Bypolicy,a
studentwhohasOSSisnotallowedtoparticipateinanyextracurricularactivity
duringthesuspension.Itisalsouptoeachcoachtocomeupwithhis/herown
disciplineguidelinesforeachprogramwhenreferringtoabsences,lateness,orany
otherdisciplinaryissues.

Parentscanexpectthateachsportwillholdapreseasonmeeting.
Parentscanexpectthateachcoachwillhaveapracticeandgameschedule.
Parentscanexpectthateachcoachwillprovideacopyofspecificteamrules.
Parentsthatcanexpectthateachteamwillhavepostseasonawards.
Parentswhohaveaconcernshouldcontactthecoachtosetupameeting(not
before,duringorafterapractice/game)todiscusstheirchild.Iftheparentsfeel
thatthesituationhasnotbeenresolved,theparentwillneedtocontactthe
AthleticDirectortosetupanappointmenttomeetwithsaidcoach.

GeneralInformation

Transportation:
HighschoolTransportationwillbeprovidedforalloutofcountyeventsbyeach
teamstransportationbudget.Transportationtoincountyeventsforvarsitymustbe
providediftheeventisduringtheschoolday.Studentsmustuseprovided
transportation,unlesspriorapprovalfromprincipalhasbeengranted.
Trainer:
Allplayerswillhaveaccesstoanathletictrainer.Playersareexpectedtoworkwith
thetrainerforrehabilitation.Whenaplayerisnotinrehab,theyareexpectedto
attendpracticestocontinuereceivinginstructionunlessotherarrangementshavebeen
madewiththecoach.

Boosterclubs:
Therewillbeoneboosterclubforeachsport.Aboosterclubcannotrequireastudent
topaytoplay,butmayaskthemtoparticipateinfundraising.Ifastudentelectsnotto
participateinafundraiser,thatstudentmaynotbeentitledtobenefitsderivedfrom
thefundraiser.

LetteringPolicy:
Theathleticdepartmentwillprovideforathleticawardletters.Astudentmust
participatein50%ofvarsitygamesandfinishtheseasoninordertoletter.Ifaplayer
dressesforateamsport,thatisconsideredparticipation.Letteringpolicywillfollow
theseguidelines.
