Description

Symptom/Condition
Customer on ceed (ED) (5door) might experience rusts on underneath of the high mounted
stop lamp assembly.

Cause
Due to the small gaps among the high mounted stop lamp assembly and the body of the vehicle,
paint on the body might be scratched and the panel may rust.

Countermeasure/Remedy
Following the Service Procedure below adjust the gap among the body of the vehicle and
high mounted stop lamp only. If necessary repair the paint damage on the body
according to the service procedure.

5door (High mounted stop lamp Only)

Note)
Before conducting the procedure, verify that the vehicle is affected one by identifying VIN.
1) Remove the high mounted stop lamp according to the applicable workshop manual.
2) Inspect paint damage on the tail gate assembly caused by interference with high mounted stop lamp. Damage condition samples are as
below.

Condition to need paint touch-up Condition to need re-paint

When the paint is scratched from upper surface When the rust already started from
only the body of the vehicle
Note)
If there isnt any paint damage, gap adjustment by inserting the Plastic or Plain washers is necessary.

Paint Touch-up

1) Touch up the affected area with applicable body color

paint.

Note)
Paint has to dry for at least 10min after touch-up.

2) Insert 3 plastic washers (A) (1,5mm thickness,

P/N : 13510-06001QQK) on the snap-fit studs
(B) at the back of the high mounted stop
lamp assembly. Fit new high mounted stop lamp gasket
(C) to the back of the high mounted stop lamp assembly
as marked on the picture.

3) Install the high mounted stop lamp assembly.

Note)
Make sure the tail gate opens properly and locks
securely.

Repair (partially painting)

1) Clean the damaged area.

2) Sand out the rust from damaged area using P1000

sanding paper.

3) Protect the area around with the masking tape.

4) Apply primer coating on affected area.

Note)
The paint has to dry for at least 5min.

5) Apply the paint coating on affected area.

Note)
The paint has to dry for at least 5min.

6) Apply the clear coating on affected area.

7) Remove the masking tape and if necessary do

additional clear coating.

8) Dry it with the blower set up on 650C for 10

minutes by using a hand dryer or hour by using
stand UV light dryer.

9) Sand out the excessive paint using P1500 sanding

paper.

Note)
Before sanding, leave the place cool down at room
temperature.

10) Polish the repainted area using polishing paste and

polishing pad.

11) Insert 3 plastic washers (C) (1.5 mm thickness,

P/N : 13510-06001) on the snap-fit studs(E) at the back of
the high mounted stop lamp assembly. Fit new high
mounted stop lamp gasket (D) to the back of the high
mounted stop lamp assembly as marked on the picture.

12) Install the high mounted stop lamp assembly according

to the applicable workshop manual.
Note)
Before completing the procedure, make sure the tail
gate opens properly and locks securely.
