Water Lily.
An ornamental aquatic plant with large round floating leaves and large,
typically cup-shaped, floating flowers.
In this study, Water Lily will be used as the main component in formulating an
antibacterial liquid soap.
Antibacterial.
Anything that destroys bacteria or suppresses their growth or their ability to reproduce. Heat,
chemicals such as chlorine, and antibiotic drugs all have antibacterial properties. Many antibacterial products
for cleaning and hand washing are sold today. Such products do not reduce the risk for symptoms of viral
infectious diseases in otherwise healthy persons. This does not preclude the potential contribution of
antibacterial products to reducing symptoms of bacterial diseases in the home.
In this study, antibacterial will be the desired action of the formulated liquid soap
to be evaluated.
Liquid Soap.
Commonly consist of a solution of a cold made potash soap of a vegetable oil, frequently
coconut oil in soft or distilled water. They vary in solids content from about 10 % to 30% percent
or more in almost invariably contain the glycerol which is normal to a cold process soap.
(Smither, Trevithick etc.1937 )
Nymphaea.
Any of the plants, known as water lilies, that are members of the genus Nymphaea
In this study, Agar well diffusion method will be used to evaluate the antibacterial activity
of formulated liquid soap.
Staphylococcus aureus.
Escherichia coli.
Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria normally live in the intestines of healthy
people and animals. Most varieties of E. coli are harmless or cause relatively brief
diarrhea. But a few particularly nasty strains, such as E. coli O157:H7, can cause
severe abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea and vomiting.
In this study, extraction will be used to extract the fresh leaves of Water Lily (Nymphaea
lotus).
Rotary Evaporation.
In this study, Rotary evaporation will be used to separate the extract from the solvent
which is ethanol.
Filtration.
Nymphaeaceae.
