TKS Industries, Lacombe, AB Canada will use a Fabco Automotive front drive steer axle and transfer case combination on their
newly designed SmartVac, a medium size hydrovac truck. The decision was made due to the weight savings, durability, and
reliability of Fabco Automotive components.
By using the Fabco Automotive front drive steer axle and transfer case, in the 4x4 configuration SmartVac will save up to
500 lbs (227 kgs) of GCW as compared to other offerings in the market. This allowed SmartVac to configure the Hydrovac
equipment with larger capacity pumping and air equipment and to be under legal road weight in Canada when fully loaded.
Theresa Stec, President of SmartVac commented, Our hydrovac is specifically designed to be the light weight most powerful
solution in our market segment. Working with Fabco allowed us significant savings in the driveline that we could use to
increase the performance of our truck against our competitors.
The SmartVac is a new Hydrovac Solution Built Specifically for Municipalities. As demonstrated in the 2017 WWET show,
the mid size vehicle, with big truck suction and water power, is more maneuverable to get through narrow streets and alleyways.
The SmartVac will also be made available in a 4x4 configuration, for additional traction as needed when the roads and
easements are not paved.
