RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Student Researcher, BU Solar Energy Lab, Boston, MA Jan 2016 - May 2016
Research to develop electrodynamic screens (EDS) to remove dust on solar panels and improve their efficiency by
electrically charging dust particles and sweeping them off using a moving electromagnetic wave.
Developed the EDS using screen printing techniques to print nanowire electrodes on glass panels.
Improved the design of electrodes in SolidWorks that saved time and accelerated the EDS development.
Tested the finished screens to ensure the efficiency of solar panels was not affected by measuring the amount of
light that can effectively pass through the EDS. Recorded the data for analysis to find the optimal EDS design.
PROJECTS
Capstone: Hydropac Waste Disposal System, BU Animal Science Center Jan 2017 May 2017
Led a team of four to build a device that extracts excess water out of waste hydration bags for easier disposal.
Optimized the initial design and selected materials for ease of manufacturability, assembly and cost reduction.
Designed and machined durable modular components that can be reused in future design iterations.
Resolved team conflicts; reviewed and corrected design errors that saved time, material and money.
Assembled the final design and delivered a report with design improvements that could be made in the future.
Automated Tissue Homogenizer Aug 2016 - Dec 2016
Created a table top electro-mechanical design to mix tissue samples and enzymes for lab analysis in SolidWorks.
Designed a rotating tool base for two different homogenizing (mixing) tools that reduced the size of the design.
Selected the mechanical drives and actuators to meet force and cycle time requirements while reducing cost.
Performed the financial justification for the project, and managed communication with vendors for parts and labor.
Automated Edible Water Pod Dispenser Sept 2015 - Dec 2015
Created an electro-mechanical prototype that mixed two chemical solutions to produce edible water pods (bubbles).
Developed a proof of concept using rapid prototyping. 3D printed mixing and dispensing components.
Independently designed the circuit to automate the prototype using two different actuators and a microcontroller.
Successfully built the controls and the mechanism to mix the solutions and extract water pods at regular intervals.
Oil Well Drill Model, Schlumberger Sept 2014 - Dec 2014
Lead mechanical designer in a team of four that built a physical model to study whirling effects for an oil well drill
that severely damages the equipment when drilling underground.
Designed and built the model components so that the researchers could customize the model to their liking.
Assembled the final model that included hall effect sensors to analyze the whirling effect.
Customer preferred this model out of three possible options.
Additional Projects: Thermal analysis of saut pans (FEA); Piezo-electric actuator controller; Safety phone case.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE
Lead Student CSS, Boston University IS&T, Boston, MA Aug 2014 May 2017
Resolved hardware and software issues in computing devices over the phone, via email and in person.
Managed and trained student employees; supervised a field location when regular staff was unavailable.
Recognized for providing outstanding customer service and assuming challenging roles by peers and supervisors.
HONORS AND ACTIVITIES _____________
