Proposal Paper: IUKL Badminton 2016 Championship

1.0 Introduction
For decades, Badminton has been one of the most dominating sports categories in
the Malaysias world of sports. In 1937, Malaysia started a badminton tournament called
Malaysia Open Tournament which had been involving powerful Badminton athletes all
over the world. Since then, Malaysian Badminton legends were born through this
tournament; Cecilia Samuel, Choong Ewe Beng, Tan Aik Huang, Sidek Brothers, Lee
Chong Wei and many more to come in the future. Now, Malaysia Open is known as
Malaysia Super Series which is one of the huge tournaments in BWF Super Series.

As to keep producing badminton prodigies in Malaysia, various efforts have been

taken by the government as well as by numerous non-governmental organizations. Ever
since elementary school, badminton has been a major part of the curriculum. Now that
were in the higher education institution, Badminton is still one of the major choices in
sports categories to keep Malaysias high standards and pride.

This interclass badminton event called IUKL Badminton 2016 Championship is

being organized by the Bachelors MPU 3432 (Badminton II) students in the hopes of
unleashing hidden talents and skills of the players in the class. This event will be held on
23rd September 2016 at the IUKLs Multipurpose Hall (MPH). It was made
compulsory for students of MPU 3432 to conduct as well as participate in the tournament
of this subject as to get the hands-on experience in both being the organizer as well as
being the players of this tournament. Students from various majors and backgrounds have
come together to join forces and capabilities as a learning process of this class-level
competition.

The students in the class are divided into 2 groups which are the organizing
committees with 15 members as well as the players with 24 participants. The game
categories involved in this tournament are Mens Doubles as well as Womens Singles.
The event will be independently organized by the organizing committees under the
supervision of the project advisor as the performance of each student will be assessed as
the subject requirement. We deeply wish the tournament will be a huge success with the
integration of our dynamic teamwork, proficient performance and our strong love for
badminton.

9.0 Conclusion

In culmination, we hope that this event being proposed will be as excellent as we thought it
would be. Throughout preparation we have gained practical experiences in the planning, managing
and deciding on important matters in ensuring that the event will be a success. We realize that this
event will enable students, especially the committee members to experience problem-solving
actions in case of any crisis that might occur in the planning, managing and implementing of the
event.

We now understand why this subject MPU 3432 has no final examination. Its not only
because playing badminton does not greatly rely on the theoretical aspect but it is because in
preparing for the event, we have developed management and communication skills such as
teamwork, decisionmaking, budgeting and people skills which is highly needed in this beautiful
sports which is not going to be easily earned in simply a final examination.

We hope that this event will make the students understand on how to develop a healthy
relationship with each other including our opponents and also to inspire each other to work hard
and do better. We also hope that whatever contribution we will make out of this event will
somehow increase IUKLs image and reputation by producing caring, proficient and hardworking
individuals.
