HG4402 B01E-15 --- 4
2 Description

2.1 General
The disconnectors comply with the latest issues of IEC 62271-102.
Subject to changes which are made in the interest of further development.
No claims can be made on the basis of data, figures, and descriptions.
Errors expected.
The device, designed with corrosion protection in mind and for outdoor installation, consists
of three individual poles. Above the individual poles there are mating contacts suspended
from the overhead lines. The mating contacts and conducting paths may optionally be
equipped with special-type contact strips of type LKK which enable the switching of bus-
transfer currents. These contact strips may also be retrofitted during operation without
having to readjust the conducting path of the pantograph disconnector. Each pole of the
pantograph disconnector is actuated by a motor drive.
The pantograph disconnector poles are delivered disassembled in subassemblies:
Intermediate base plate or intermediate base structure (Subassembly 1)
Current paths, complete (Subassembly 4)
Mating contacts (Subassembly 4)
Post insulators (Subassembly 3)
Rotary insulators (Subassembly 3)
Motor drive with clamp coupling and coupling tube (Subassembly 5)

2.2 Set-up (Fig. 1, 2, 3 and 4)

The pantograph disconnector consists of a pantograph system which forms the current
path including support frame 4.1, post insulator 3.1, rotary insulator 3.2, intermediate base
plate or the intermediate base structure (1.1, shown in figs. 1 and 2) as well as motor drive
5.0 with coupling tube 5.4.
The pantograph system consists of aluminum tubes 4.10 and 4.11, which form the
connection between tube brackets 4.2 and 4.3 and middle hinges 4.9 and/or middle
hinges 4.8 and U-joint 4.12 and serve for conducting the current. The hinge points are
bridged-over using flexible Cu leads for conducting current.
The silver-plated Cu-contact tubes 4.13 and 4.14 resp. Al-contact tubes with contact strips,
which are attached in the extended part of the U-joint, form the main contact.
At the end of the contact tubes corona fittings are assembled.
The mating contact consists of a silver-plated Cu-tube 4.22 resp. Al-tube with contact
strips.
If the single-column disconnector has a bus-transfer switching ability (optional), special
strips will be screwed onto the contact tubes and mating contact.
It will be fastened at the overhead lines by clamps and rope loops. The height of the mating
contact may be changed by shortening the length of the aluminium rope loops or rods.
The driving linkages 4.6 and 4.7, tube clamps 4.2 and 4.3 as well as the bearing of the
drive insulator 3.2 with swinging bracket 4.5 are located inside the gear box 4.1.

HG4402 B01E-15 --- 5

Furthermore, the support frame is provided with four aluminum terminals for high-voltage
connections and surfaces for fastening a mating contact of the integral earthing switch.
Each pantograph disconnector can later be equipped with an integral earthing switch.

2.3 Operating Principle (Fig. 1, 2, 3 and 4)

When switched on the rotary motion of drive 5.0 is transferred over the rotary insulator 3.2
to the swinging bracket 4.5 mounted in the gear box 4.1. The swinging bracket 4.5
operates the tube support 4.2 over the thrust rod 4.6 and thus the two halves of the
pantograph system which are connected to each other by diagonal linkage 4.7 are moved
upwards. During switch operation the pantograph system makes a lift and grab movement
and grabs mating contact tubes 4.22 above the pantograph disconnector poles like a
gripper. When switched ON and then OFF, suspension brackets 4.5 are switched by
motor drive 5.0 over the dead-center position and thus the device is locked against the
influence of external forces.

3 Packaging and Storage

The equipment is packed on transport planks, in crates or cases. The drives are delivered
on pallets and wrapped with plastic film. The number of packaging units and their mass
and dimensions are specified in the delivery documents.
If the equipment is stored outdoors, it must be placed so high as to prevent dust and dirt
from entering essential components and subassemblies.
CAUTION! Motor drives must be stored indoor until final installation
takes place. The heating system must be started immediately
after completion of installation as described in the drive manual.

4 Installation

4.1 General
Installation must only be carried out by personnel familiar with these operating instructions.
Risks to erection personnel may be caused by
electricity
falling and/or tilting or other moving parts.
CAUTION! Electricity there is risk of electric shock and burning due to
electric arc.
The poles of the disconnectors, possibly with mounted integral earthing switches, are
assembled and preadjusted in the factory. Installation on site consists of the following main
activities:
setting up and assembling the poles,
mounting the drives,
coupling the drive linkage, and adjusting.
The serial numbers of the disconnectors are indicated on the name plates. The name
plates of the disconnectors are located on the base plates of the poles, those of motor
drives inside the drive housing.
When assembling the poles, make sure to put together subassemblies with the same serial
number for each pole.
CAUTION! Before making the connection, clean live connections with a
brush and apply a slight film of "RIVOLTA S.K.D. 3602"
grease.

HG4402 B01E-15 --- 6

HG4402 B01E-15 --- 7
4.2 Bolted Connections
Apply specified grease to all bolted connections before assembly.
Hot-dip galvanized bolts: "RIVOLTA S.K.D. 3602"
A2/A4 bolts: "RIVOLTA W.A.P.
Make sure that all friction surfaces (e. g.: threads, contact surfaces of nuts and washers) of
components are coated with grease of the specified grade.
Basically, tighten all bolts with a torque wrench. For tightening torque, see the table below.
There is risk of damage or loose bolted connections, if nuts are tightened without
observing the indicated torque.

Thread Tightening torque in Nm

Strength class
8.8 10.9 A2-70 A2-80
M6 10 14 10 14
M8 20 33 25 33
M10 41 59 46 50
M12 68 100 80 110
M14 x 1,5 110 160 140 160
M16 170 250 190 270
M20 340 490 394 525
M24 590 840 570
The values in the table above apply to all bolted connections for which no tightening torque
is specified in the operating instructions. All bolted connections are made in the factory
using the specified lubricating grease.

4.3 Treatment of Contacts

Contact strips of the pantograph system and the mating contact which are optionally
attached to pantograph disconnectors with bus-transfer switch ability are coated with a
protective layer of grease for transport and storage.
Before starting installation, this grease film must be removed from contact surfaces without
using chemical solvent.
Care shall be taken that the grease sealing coat in hollow grooves between the contact
strips and their supports, applied to protect contact surfaces against oxidation, remains.
(Refer to Fig. 7). Possible damages to this coating must be rectified.
The contact tubes of the pantograph system and the mating contact and/or the optionally
attached contact strips are provided with a special silver coating in the factory. This silver
coating acts as dry lubricant ensuring that dirt and dust cannot settle on the coated
surfaces.
The contacts require no maintenance.
The contacts do not need to be greased.
Accidental application of grease to the contact system does not have a negative impact on
sliding characteristics. However, as dust and sand collect on the surface, there is an
increased risk of wear and maintenance is required.

HG4402 B01E-15 --- 8

HG4402 B01E-15 --- 9
4.4 Transport
All subassemblies put together in a packaging unit should be transported to the installation
site in the package if possible and unpacked right before assembly.
Packaging offers protection against damage to the pantograph system, which is adjusted in
the factory, and against loose parts getting lost.
To unload and move the transport units, apply lifting gear only at the points marked
accordingly.
Inspect the contents of each unit for missing items.
If fully assembled single poles are placed on the supporting structure, attach the ropes for
transport by crane to the lifting lugs of the gear box according to Fig. 6.

4.5 Installation
To lift pantograph system put transport ropes (hemp or plastic ropes) around the gear box
4.1 according to Fig. 5. When lifting, make sure that transport ropes do not damage
pantograph arms. All attachment and flange surfaces of insulators shall be cleaned before
mounting components.
4.5.1 Assembly
Before starting assembly of the pantograph disconnector, following preliminary operations
shall be executed:
Check, whether four holes in the upper plate of supporting member are in
alignment with the longitudinal axis of the bus bar.
Check vertical axis of supporting members and correct, if necessary.
Check height of overhead lines.
Check axes distances of poles.
Now, assembly of pantograph disconnector may start in right pole order a, b, c according to
the dimensional drawing and name plate data by below-described steps.
Attach intermediate base plate with centering plate (available as an option) or the
intermediate base structure to the supporting member align mounting boreholes
centrically to each other and align with a water level. Install the coupling tube
through the borehole of the centering plate (only when the centering plate is scope
of supply).
Place supporting insulator 3.1 and rotary insulator 3.2 on an even surface. Lift the
pantograph system 4.0 by way of crane, put it on the supporting insulator and rotary
insulator and then screw it to the support frame 4.1.
Tie supporting insulator 3.1 and rotary insulator 3.2 together using a suitable
intermediate layer (as for instance a log) in order to prevent inadmissible load of the
bearing point of the support frame by deviation of the rotary insulator. Lift the
pantograph system 4.0 including the screwed-on insulators.
By use of a clamp coupling 5.1 screw the connecting tube 5.4 together with the
base flange of the rotary insulator.
By use of a splined connecting rod together with an intermediate base structure
(see fig. 8) the connecting rod has to be put on the outgoing shaft of the motor drive
(ATTENTION: Watch the mounting position of the boreholes of the top flange

shown in fig. 8). Afterwards screw the connecting rod together with the base flange
of the rotary insulator by the use of screws 3.5
Put pantograph system with insulators down to intermediate base plate. Tighten
supporting insulator 3.1 with hexagon head bolts 3.5.
Assembly of poles "a" and "c" follows accordingly.

4.5.2 Mounting the motor drive (Fig. 8 and 9)

(For details on motor drive refer to the corresponding operating instructions)
R E C O M M E N D A T I O N! The motor drive is delivered OFF. In this
switching position, the white 0 is centered in the visual position indicator.
If the drive is mounted to a support structure fix the bracket to the structure and
tighten the screws only per hand so adjustments can be made easily.
ATTENTION: Unpack motor drive and install delivered clamp coupling or
the splined connecting rod (watch position shown in fig. 8)
on the splined drive shaft of the motor drive immediately.
CAUTION! Execute only complete switching operations up to the
corresponding end positions (ON and/or OFF). Do not
change rotation direction of the motor drive in intermediate
positions!
The swinging bracket 4.5 of the disconnector is dead center locked in the OFF
position and fixed in that position by means of a red securing bracket at works.
ATTENTION! To be observed for 123kV devices!
Before the motor drive is coupled to the rotary insulator 3.2, the rotary arm
4.5 must be locked in the "OFF" position by means of a red angle 4.30
(Fig. 6).
The angle is supplied for each set of disconnectors together with the devices.
Remove bow screws 5.25 from clamp coupling 5.1. Lift motor drive 5.0, put it
against the mounting surface of the supporting bracket and attach with hexagon
head bolts M16.
CAUTION! Now tighten bow screws 5.25 only with 110 Nm.
Align the motor drive and also the centering plate of the connecting tube if
necessary.
Tighten fixing screws of motor drive and fixing bracket using the tightening torque.
ATTENTION! To be observed for 123kV devices!
When the motor drive is coupled, you must first remove the red locking angle
4.11 of the drive rotary arm 4.5 from the support frame 4.1 (Fig. 6).

4.6 Connecting the high-voltage line

Before setting the mating contact precisely, it is necessary to set high-voltage
connections, since the cable pull may have an impact on the main contact position.
If the mating contact position was set before connecting feeding lines to the support
frame,a check of the position of the mating contact after connecting the high-voltage
lines becomes absolutely necessary.
After connecting high-voltage lines, check vertical alignment of supporting insulator.
Necessary deviations can be compensated by adding washers with a material
thickness of 0.5 mm or 1 mm (Ruhrtal Stock No.: 34-08344V01 and/or
34-08344V02).

HG4402 B01E-15 --- 12

Fig. 10

HG4402 B01E-15 --- 13

4.7 Suspending the mating contact (Fig. 10)
Attention!
Thightening torque for M12-bolts A2-80 at the clamps of the mating contact = 80 Nm

Fig. 10 shows designs of mating contact suspensions.

Determine intersecting point of bus bar and extended axis of the single-column
disconnector using a perpendicular.
Attach mating contact 4.22 delivered with the pantograph disconnector by way of
clamps to the mating contact suspension.
Make sure that the mating contact is in horizontal position (Fig. 10). Make sure that middle
axis of contact strips (only if contact strips were delivered, axis Z-Z) is in horizontal position
(Fig. 13 A-A).
Then, switch on the disconnector pole by hand only so far as between mating
contact and contact tube touched first remains an air gap of about 3 mm. The
difference of the air gap between both contact tubes and the mating contact may be
10 15 mm at a maximum. If the air gap is greater, the supporting insulator should
be aligned by adding washers with a thickness of 0.5 mm as the air gap difference
between contact tubes and mating contact is not greater than 12 mm.
Level of mating contact is adjusted in this position.
Level of the mating contact for tube conductor is adjusted by altering the
rope loop diameter.
Level of the mating contact design for rope conductor is adjusted by
displacing the unit to a vertically positioned adjusting rod, the excess ends of
which will be cut after adjustment.
The right height level of the mating contact 4.31G in the contact system depends on
temperature conditions during installation, which have influence on the sag of the
bearing conductor.
All data on slag extent which are necessary to set the height of the mating contact
shall be given by the unit operator to the installation personnel.
Before adjusting height level of a single mating contact all mating contacts shall be
mounted to this bus bar section to ensure that the bus bar has found its final
position.

4.8 Adjusting travel stops of motor drive and swinging bracket stop in the gear box
CAUTION! The exact execution of the assembly steps described in the
following becomes necessary to guarantee a permanent reliable
function of the pantograph disconnector.
Switch on disconnector by hand operation of the motor drive until galvanic contact
of contact tubes and mating contact!
C A U T I O N! For motor drive use crank handle (square 12.7 ) or
electrical drill (number of revolutions <150 min-1, no
impact drill) with extension cord. Execute only complete
switching operations up to the corresponding end
positions (ON or OFF). Do not change rotation direction of
the motor drive in intermediate positions!
For motor drive further operation it is absolutely necessary to use the hand crank
until the disconnector reaches the ON position. ON position is reached, if swinging

HG4402 B01E-15 --- 14

bracket 4.5 noticeably switches over the dead center and stop screw touches the rib
in the gear box.
Stop manual operation immediately, if swinging bracket will have switched over the
dead center!
C A U T I O N! Do not change operating direction of the motor drive in this
position!
Unscrew bow screws 5.25 of clamp coupling 5.1
Move motor drive by hand crank to ON end position. End position is reached, if the
white 1 is centered in the visible position indicator.
Tighten bow screws 5.25 reciprocally using torque 170 Nm.

4.9 Mounting of the corona protective housing on the 420kV bearing frame (Fig. 11)
Hold the corona secure mountings 4.40 with holder 4.41 on the inside of the bearing
frame 4.1 and fix them with two counter sunk screws M6 x 25, 4.42, washers and
counter nut.

HG4402 B01E-15 --- 15

4.10 Trial switching and securing the coupling tube
Execute trial switches by manual motor drive operation. Use crank handle (square 12.7
) or electrical drill (number of revolutions <150 min-1, no impact drill) with attached
extension cord.
CAUTION! Execute only complete switching operations up to the
corresponding end positions (ON and/or OFF). Do not change
rotation direction of the motor drive in intermediate positions!
The following must be observed for performing the trial switching:
Check movement of pantograph.
Check to make sure that swinging bracket 4.5 in support frame 4.1 and motor drive
5.0 reach their final positions (Refer also to Section 4.8).
Before executing any further switching, secure coupling tube 5.4 (Refer to Fig 9):
Screw off threaded pin with finger 5.30 from clamp coupling 5.1.
Drill coupling tube with a drill 12.2 mm.
Screw threaded pin so far into clamp couplings until the finger rests in the borehole.
To make drill work easier, a retaining screw (Stock No.: 34-15500) can be obtained
from RUHRTAL.

5 Start-up
Connect motor drive to secondary supply in accordance with Operating Instructions for
motor drive
Check bolted connections
Check setting of mating contact (usable contact area is marked at the grab arms) and
check dead center locking of swinging bracket during switching-on.
Only for contact system LKK: Check the grease sealing coat in the hollow grooves
between contact strips and their supports (Refer to Section 4.3 and Fig 7). Possible
damage to this coating has to be rectified.
Trial switching by manual drive operation and observation of motion operations.
Electrical trial switching.

6 Maintenance
CAUTION! Observe all safety instructions before starting work.
Under normal service conditions, maintenance is required after about every 12 years.

Carry out the following maintenance activities:

Visual inspection for damage due to inadmissible external factors.
Inspect and retighten all bolted connections to the prescribed torques.
Clean the insulators.
Inspect the paint and repair, if necessary.
Check all electric control functions.
Trial-switches and check the conducting path setting.
Check to make sure that the vent openings at the drives are not obstructed.

HG4402 B01E-15 --- 16

CAUTION! Only for contact system LKK: The grease sealing coat in the
hollow grooves between contact strips and their supports must
not be removed under any circumstances (Refer to section 4.3
and Fig. 7). Possible damage to this coating has to be
rectified.

7 Inspections
Perform inspections as follows:
Depending on the service conditions, an inspection should be made after every
25 years,
At very high switching frequency, latest however after 2000 switching operations,
After several loads near the short-time withstand current limit,
In severe service environments.
The following activities are required in addition to those in section 6:

HG0040 B01E-04 --- 10

4.3 Design and Mode of Operation

Enclosure, Degree of Protection and Corrosion Protection

The mechanical and electrical part of the drive are housed together in a corrosion-
resistant aluminium enclosure.
The enclosure offers protection against dust and splash water in accordance with
IP 55 IEC 60529.
All built-in parts are sufficiently protected against corrosion by surface treatment or
manufactured using corrosion-proof materials. The bearings of the gear shafts are
lubricated for life and require low maintenance.
To prevent condensation, the enclosure is ventilated and equipped with a heater. If
implemented in areas with a very aggressive atmosphere, the vent holes may be
closed and only the heater can be operated. The cable entry panel is normally not
drilled. If required as a special design, the cable entry panel may also be equipped
with the essential metric cable glands. In the event secondary cables are installed,
the cable entry panel can be opened up after unscrewing the fastening screws.
Usually, the panel door is mounted with hinges on the left hand side. If necessary,
you can change the side the door is mounted on, i.e. right hand side, without
requiring any additional components.

Motor and electrical control

Motor
The motor is either a DC series-wound motor or AC single-phase motor or AC
three-phase motor.

Control
2 control contactors K1 and K2 for control with changing the rotation direction of
the motor: The contactors are switched off in their end positions by contacts of the
auxiliary switch S1.

Voltage monitoring (optional)

The auxiliary switch K3 monitors the motor voltage. If the motor is not supplied
with power, the supply of the control contactors K1 and K2 is interrupted.

Overcurrent trip relay

The thermal overcurrent trip relay F1 monitors the motor winding. Refer to Section
1, for setting range and factory-set tripping current.
The overcurrent trip relay can be set using the Reset key (blue) either to manual
reset (H, factory setting) or automatic operation (A).
To check the operation of the overcurrent trip relay, press the Test key.

Suppressor circuit (optional)

As an option, a suppressor circuit can be included to limit overvoltage at the
control contactors or to limit starting current peaks.

HG0040 B01E-04 --- 11

Auxiliary switch S1: Position indication

The auxiliary switch S1 serves to indicate positions and to lock against other
switching equipment. Moreover, it takes over switching-off the drive motor.

The following contact types are available for the auxiliary switch S1:

Type Function
(Refer to Fig. 3 as well)

1 NC contact

2 NO contact

3 delayed break contact, not overlapping with 2

4 early make contact, not overlapping with "1"

5 delayed break contact, overlapping with 2

6 early make contact, overlapping with "1"

7 delayed break contact, later opening as "5"

8 early make contact, formerly closing as "6"

9 Wiping contact element, not overlapping with "1" and "2"

10 Wiping contact element, overlapping with "1" and "2"

The number and application of the contacts can be seen in the corresponding order
documentation.

HG0040 B01E-04 --- 12

Fig. 3 Sequence diagram

HG0040 B01E-04 --- 13

The drive of the auxiliary switch S1 ensures as a result of a pre-travel and overtravel
that the position signal is only given after the high-voltage switchgear has reached its
end position and is interlocked so that it is resistant to the short-circuit current.
The other way around, the position signal is cleared before the high-voltage
switchgear leaves the corresponding end position.
Fig. 3 shows the corresponding sequence diagram.
The auxiliary switch S1 takes a intermediate position between the two end positions
(run position).
The auxiliary switch is positively driven by the drive shaft via a Maltese gear.
If in case of a manual operation the crank handle is still actuated manually after the
motor drive reaches its end position, there is an overrunning clutch which protects the
gearing from damage and position indication against faulty indication.
The visual position indicator shows the end position of auxiliary switch S1 and thus
the end of manual operation as well (Refer to Fig. 4).

Secondary wiring

The secondary wiring of the motor drive required for corresponding operating
conditions can be implemented by applying the connecting cable to the terminal strip
at the installation and by correspondingly bridging individual terminals (wire jumpers
1.5 mm2 or chain bridges).

CAUTION:

In case of arrangements with self-locking and separate motor and control

supply circuits

In case of arrangements which are implemented with self-locking and separate motor
and control supply circuits it is possible that the protection relay for the motor voltage
may be actuated, and if both circuits are separately fuse-protected, the control
voltage is still present and stored control commands stay in self-locking. When the
motor voltage returns, the motor drive would start up automatically.

HG0040 B01E-04 --- 14

HG0040 B01E-04 --- 15
4.4 Operation
N O T E! Only perform complete switching operations up to the
corresponding end positions (ON and/or OFF). Do note change the
motors direction of rotation in intermediate positions!
Failure to comply with this note can cause damage to gear
components of the motor drive due to the fact that the switching
device and the motor drive have different end positions.
Electrical operation
Electrical operation of the motor drive, as a rule, will be implemented from the control
room or a control cabinet. Moreover, a local / 0 / remote switch with ON and OFF
pushbuttons can be installed as an option.
Manual operation, visual position indication
To set the high-voltage switching device and emergency switching, the motor drive
can be operated from the bottom by a hand crank ( with a 12.7 mm / square
socket). The hole for inserting the hand crank is covered with a swivelling cover. The
cover is connected to auxiliary switch S2 which interrupts both the control circuit and
the motor circuit as soon as the cover is opened for manual operation.
During manual operation, it is necessary to ensure that the auxiliary switch S1
switches over only after the high-voltage switching device has reached its end
position. The end position can be recognized in the oval window of the visual position
indicator (Fig. 4).
During operation of the auxiliary switch, the hand crank must be turned quickly to
make sure that breaking arcs arising at the auxiliary switch contacts are not present
longer than necessary.
4.5 Mechanical Equipment (Series)
Lid with lockable latch (Fig. 5)
To protect the enclosures lid against unauthorized opening, the lid is equipped with a
lockable mechanical interlock. This includes the latch 28. The padlocks 29 shall be
provided by others.
Mechanical interlocking device (Fig. 6)
To protect against unauthorized remote or manual operation, the motor drive will also
be equipped with a mechanical interlocking device. This includes the latch 28 and the
interlocking bar 18. To be able to insert the interlocking bar 18 into the opening for
the hand crank, it is necessary to open the swiveling cover, whereas the auxiliary
switch S2 interrupts the motor and control circuit at the same time. The mechanical
interlock can be reached by inserting the interlocking bar 18 into the square socket of
the coupling member on the motor shaft. To ensure that the interlocking bar 18 does
not fall out, use the latch 28 to secure it. By doing so, a mechanical and electrical
operation is no longer possible. Moreover, the mechanical interlocking device can be
protected against unauthorized unlocking by using padlocks 29 which shall be
provided by others.
The direction of rotation for manual operation is indicated on the rotation direction
plate which is mounted next to the opening for the hand crank.

5. Storage
Caution: Motor drives shall generally be stored in dry places, since during storage in
humid places or outdoor corrosion damages may occur.
Electrical heating shall be put into operation immediately after installation.

HG0040 B01E-04 --- 16

HG0040 B01E-04 --- 17
6. Installation
NOTE!
For fixing the motor drive a threaded bushing
with an hexagon formed flange is pressed in
the inner side of the gear plate.
In order to guarantee a permanently fixing of
the threaded bushing the hexagon flange
must not be distorted.

CAUTION! If the drive is mounted in a lowered position, make absolutely

sure that the stops on the switching device and the motor drive
are in the same end position.
Motor drives are normally delivered with drive swinging brackets or clamp couplings,
necessary for the particular switching device.
If replacement of a drive swinging bracket or displacement by one tooth of the
swinging bracket becomes necessary, the following working steps shall be taken into
account (Refer to Fig. 7):
Knock off rain cap 1 (place a supporting element under the point opposite to the
impacts)
Remove retaining ring 3
Pull off drive swinging bracket 2
Put on new drive swinging bracket 2 (take into account angle in corresponding
end positions), attach retaining ring 3 (make sure that the retaining ring fits
properly).
Put on rain cap 1 again.
Make sure that the drive shaft is not subject to any impacts.

When attaching the motor drive to the base structure of the switching device or to
brackets, make sure that there is an even support surface to protect the drive
enclosure from distortion.

The delivered motor drive will be mounted on the base structure of the switching
device or on the bracket using two hexagon head screws M16.

MA-6 and MA-7 type motor drives are delivered in OFF Position.

The removable cable entry panel provided in the bottom plate of the motor drive can
be equipped, if necessary, with holes to accommodate cable glands and the motor
drive shall be hooked up according to the corresponding wiring diagram.

The motor drive has a total of 4 free ground terminals:

Two ground terminals to the terminal strip providing following connection
possibilities:
2 x single-wired, 10 mm2, 2 x multi-wired, 6 mm2, 2 x fine-wired, 4 mm2.
One ground bolt M8x25, DIN 933, A2/A4 inside the enclosure, below on the rear
panel.
One ground connection according to DIN 46 008 with a through bore-hole,
diameter 13.5 mm, and hexagon head screw M12x50, DIN 933, A2/A4 on the
right-hand side of the enclosure at the upper cover hinge. (Refer to Fig. 1, 2).
CAUTION: If installation is not implemented together with the start-up, then the
heater of the motor drive must immediately be connected and put into
operation. This helps to prevent corrosion damage.
