SYLLABUS

Welcome to class! We are in for a year of fun, learning, and success! Psychology is the scientific study
of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior in a given context. In other
words, when you say your best friend is crazy, you are going to know what you are talking about and
why. Here are some basics to have down before you come into class:

You may check your grades on Power School . This is THE way to keep up
with your grades (instead of coming to ask me if you can see your grades...you can see the same
thing I do) and alert yourself to potential issues EVERY week.
I do not accept late work except in the case of an absence (this is also school
policy that is found in your student handbook). There is no exception to this rule, even for a
lesser grade. If your assignment is not turned in on time (example: Homework is due at the
BEGINNING of each class period as I take attendance-not the end.), it is recorded as a zero .
This may be difficult to get used to. However, it is fair and equitable.
It is your responsibility to make up tests/quizzes for the days you missed. You have one day for
each day missed to make it up. I will not remind you. If it is not made up, it is a zero.
After this week, you may find ALL current assignments on my website at
www.mightyroar.weebly.com. This will be updated weekly and should correlate with Power
School grades. When you are absent, you may find all work here and in Power School, as I
update both, the week BEFORE all assignments are due. Power School may not be up and
running, yet. So, please have patience.
On occasion, you may be allowed to take your textbook home to complete assignments. This
means it MUST be returned to me the next day. If it is not, you or your parents will be charged
the entire cost of the book, plus shipping, to replace it. You will not receive your report card
until it is paid for.
You have the opportunity, most days, to work on homework (except personal study and projects)
in class, after our discussions are over. Most of the time, you will complete it before going home.
However, this is not always the case. Please make sure to keep up with each of your
assignments and when they are due.
Class discussion is the major aspect of this class. I expect you to respectfully participate each
day. Get ready! You have something important to say, and I want to hear it.

TESTS-30% of your grade.

PROJECTS-25% of your grade.
QUIZZES- 20% of your grade (this includes class participation)
HOMEWORK- 15% of your grade. To be turned in at the BEGINNING of each class when I call your name
for role. I keep a file of EVERY paper. If it is not turned in at the beginning of class, it is a zero. You may
email me your homework the night before it is due. However, I will not accept it late if you got the
wrong email address. Make sure to check the spelling!
CLASSWORK-10% of your grade

Supplies: Writing journal, notebook paper, something to write with, great attitude, brilliant ideas!

Tutoring: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, immediately after school.
