Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice (2008) is Basic Organizational and
Systems Leadership for Quality Care and Patient Safety. Nurses play an essential role in
providing safe quality patient care within a complex healthcare system. To be successful in this

designed for my Leadership for Quality and Safety class. Essential II recognizes that knowledge
and skills in leadership, quality improvement, and patient safety are necessary to provide high
quality health care. (2008). As a baccalaureate graduate, I will need to be able to identify and
understand my leadership style and its impact on my nursing practice. Armed with this
knowledge, I will provide safe quality patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team of
healthcare providers.
Reflection
The main focus of Essential II is the role ones leadership and communication skills play
in providing safe patient care and the effect they have on interactions among other members of
the healthcare team. Evidence-based practice is utilized to ensure the best and safest clinical
practice. As nurses develop their leadership role within the healthcare environment, they become
improvements.
One part of the Creative Implementation of Leadership project was to take the Myers-
Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) instrument, which is a test that uses personality type theory to

identify how people interact with the world around them and how they differ in their interests,
reactions, values, motivations, and skills. (The Myers & Briggs Foundation, 2016). The
personality type was then used to develop an understanding of leadership qualities and abilities
and how these were utilized in the current work environment. The project also evaluated key
