Landslide Claimed 6 Lives

I was walking along Rejoso hill with my friends when the landslide
suddenly happened and hit many building along the hill last week. It first I
thought it was just common rain but then I saw some big stones and mud falling
down and hit some houses belonging to the inhabitants. After that I heard some
people ran panickly and screamed loudly for help. But nobody could do anything.
They had to save themselves. A few hours later, the landslide was over.
The inhabitants looked so frightened that they could do nothing. The
landslide happened so fast that we could not save our children or property, said
Mr. Kasihan. Three hours later, the SAR crew arrived. They tried to give help to
inhabitants. They looked for some lost people. The found six bodies buried under
the ruins of damaged buildings. The government asked the people to be patient
and promised to rebuild some broken buildings.
This was national disaster. It belonged to our responsibility to solves
this disaster, said Mr. Samsul Hadi, the local government official.

Ritas Holiday

Last holiday, Rita went to Makassar city. She visited her uncle there.

She stayed there for two weeks.

She enjoyed several places of interest. At first, she visited the

Rotterdam fort. It was located near the shore and built originally by Gowa

King Tuni Planga in 1545. Then visited the tomb of Prince Diponegoro. The

princess was the leader of the Central Java uprising against the Dutch from

1825-1831. At last, she enjoyed the rare orchids, coral rock and shell

collection displayed in the fort. It had spacious gardens too.

Finally she went back to her uncles house. She was very tired for her

trip, but she was very happy too.

Barbecue in the Park


Last Sunday, my friend and I went to the park because Davids family

invited us to a barbecue party in the park. We lived nearby so we just walked there.

When we got to the park, there were not many people. Davids family was

already there. They arrived there early to get the best picnic spot with an electronic

barbecue grill nearby. When we arrived, they were cleaning the barbecue. After

making sure the barbecue was clean, they turned the barbecue on by pushing the

button. The electric stove turned on and the metal plate became hot.

Davids mother put some cooking oil on the metal plate, and after that she

put some sausages, beef steaks, and some onions on the barbecue.

Meanwhile, Davids father was preparing the bread, butter, and the drinks.

While waiting for the meat to cook, David and I joined other boys playing football.

When we got tired, we stopped and enjoyed the sausages, steaks, and some cold soft

drinks. The food was delicious. I think Davids mother is one of the best cooks in the

world.

My Bad Experience
I had a bad a bad experience when I did shopping. Actually it was

not my fault. It was shop assistants fault. However, the security officer of

the shop really embarrassed me. He accused me of stealing a pair of blue

jeans.

Here how it happened. One Saturday afternoon I went to a fashion

shop with my friends. I wanted to buy a pair of blue jeans. I got one. I took

them to the cashier and paid for them. Then, my friends and I left the shop.

There was a censor clip on every piece of article. The shop assistant

was careless. She forgot to take it off. So, when I left the shop, the detector

beeped. The security officer shouted at me, Hey, you! Stop! He caught

me. Everyone in the shop looked at me. Then, he took me to the managers

room. How embarrassing!

Shortly, the shop assistant and the security officer said they were

sorry about what had happened. The manager of the shop did too. They

knew it was not my fault. Finally, the manager asked me to take one piece of

clothing article for free. I took an extravagant gown. You know the price? It

was Rp 249,900.000

When I was in Junior High School, I was not a very diligent

student. In fact, I was quite lazy. I hated all the subjects that I took during
school, especially science. For me science was very difficult. It was hard for

me to remember the chemical processes, physics calculations, and biological

processes.

Once my teacher grounded me in the library because I did not do my

Biology homework. The teacher asked me to read several books and make

summary about them. When I was browsing the shelves, I found a book

entitled The Inventors of Medicine. I thought OK, this is a start. I took it

out then began reading it.

I learned from the book about Edward Jenner. He was an English

doctor who found the cure for smallpox. The next one was Louis Pasteur. His

interest in bacteria led him to discover the treatments for rabies and anthrax.

Just like Pasteur, Robert Kochs experiments on bacteria also proved that

tuberculosis can be spread to others by contact. Finally, there was Alexander

Flemming, a British bacteriologist who found the first antibiotic and

penicillin.

After I read the book, I realized that science is useful for human

kind. By studying, we can discover things that can help human kind.

Therefore, since that moment, I managed to change my behaviour and became

a doctor.

To celebrate the Maulud Nabi Day, our school will have several competitions.

The first is Qiroah, the second is Adzan, and the last is Islamic speech.

The competition will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, 19 March 2008.
