SAFETY IN RAILWAY CROSSING

The main objective of this project is to improve the working of unmanned

Railway level crossing and to also prevent accidents. To achieve the objective,
sensors are installed on rails on either side of the gate. There are two sensors
used on either side. When the train crosses the first sensor, buzzer will buzz.
Now, the controller directs the servomotor to lower the gate by few degrees
from the vertical position and wait still the train crosses. Then, at the same
time there is another gate that is used for people to cross. The pedestrian
bridge gate will then open (i.e.) if the railway gate is closed the pedestrian
bridge gate will open. When the train has crossed, the sensor at the other end
of the gate will sense this and the gate gets opened for the vehicles to go. At
that point of time the pedestrian gate will close. Since there are two sensors
which are present at two ends of the gate so, it will the sense the arrival of
train from both sides. This will not only help in preventing accidents but also
in safe crossing of people who travel by walk.
