SR.NO DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY

ELECTRICAL : COMMON
Obtain correct permit
Follow safety rules and guidelines.
Isolate and rack out generator breaker.
Isolate the batteries.
Ensure steam lines are isolated.
Ensure turbine control, AVR and other panels are
Switched off.

GENERATOR CONTROL PANEL(AVR & relay panel):

Inspect and clean panel interior
Check and replace faulty indication lamps
Check all indicating meters for proper display.
Ensure security of all the panel terminations
Check and confirm set parameters of all protective relays

ALTERNATOR UNIT:
Clean all the installations externally
Check the following are clean and free of obstruction:
Air intake and filters
Ventilation ducts
Generator air inlet louvers and associated duct.
Air outlet passage.
Inspect output(power)terminations for good condition.
Clean and inspect condition of all terminal bushings.
Measure megger value.
Measure and record DC winding resistance of:
a)Stator
b)Rotor
Measure and record P1 value of stator winding.
Clean and check security of earth connections
Check condition of main field slip rings,brushes,
and spring tension.(if applicable)
Check condition of rotor shaft earth slip ring , brushes
and spring tension.(as applicable).

FOR PILOT GENERATOR(PMG).

Clean externally and visually inspect.
Check output terminations.
Check bearing condition and grease as required

FOR PILOT EXCITER:(IF APPLICABLE)

Clean externally and visually inspect.
Check input terminations.
Check bearing condition and grease as required

FOR STATIC EXCITER:(IF APPLICABLE)

clean exciter externally.
Inspect exciter transformer,SCRs and associated cards/components.
Inspect all terminations for security.

FOR REVOLVING DIODE ASSEMBLY:(AS APPLICABLE)
Clean and check condition of diodes and other bridge components.
Check security of diode assembly unit.
Check security of AC/DC terminations.

AVR PANEL:
Inspect and clean panel interior
Ensure security of all terminations.
Check condition of all thyristors, heatsinks and control cards.
Check, function of all operating switches
Replace defective panel lamps.
Measure and confirm resistance of discharge resistor.
Check all indicating meters for proper display.

NEUTRAL GROUNDING RESISTOR:

Clean and inspect resistance bank for abnormalitties.
Measure and confirm resistance value.
Ensure all earth connections are clean and secure

FINAL CHECKS:
Function test all alarms
Function check trip circuits.

Ensure all the covers are put back.

Cancel the permit.
