Group Project Guidelines

In order to prepare for your group project first of all you must choose a company. You may not choose any Telcos, Banks or
companies located outside Bangladesh (since you need to personally speak to them). You shall be looking into the company and
their business communication procedures and problems. Make sure to get the company approved by me before you start
working. You shall be delivering a written report and a presentation (the date is mentioned in your course outline) to me on this
chosen company.The written report shall be submitted before the presentation is due.
For a more specific checklist you must include the following:
You must have a purpose/problem statement that you are addressing.
You can state your problem/purpose statement in any of the three formats that we discussed in class.
Briefly provide the context of the communication issue that you are addressing in your purpose statement and explain
why it is important to explore it.
Look at communication from all aspects, stakeholders: internal and external- BE THOROUGH- I WILL ASK QUESTIONS IN
YOUR PRESENTATION TO CHECK WETHER YOU HAVE ACTUALLY DONE YOUR WORK.
Do your research (look up into the internet what are communication issues in an organization that hampers smooth
running of the business) and find out the factors that affect communication issues in your specific organization.
Mention the different types of research you are undertaking in details. (Both Primary and Secondary)
Expand the factors found from your research. Try to relate the theoretical perspectives taught in class with the issues
found in your specific organization.
Interpret your findings. Please follow the guidelinesI provided in chapter 11, slide 10.
Provide recommendations, have a separate section for this.
Conclude with a summary of what has been done and what you have found.
Include the name, contact and business card of those you have interviewed in the Appendix

include subtopics/hypothesis in this section as per class discussion.
7. Recommendations- Make realistic professional recommendations
8. Conclusion
9. References
10. Appendix
Note: I do not encourage using any color other than black in the paper. The paper should be double-spaced, justified,
formatted, spelling checked 20-25 pages and submitted in hard copy. Mention the name of the group members along with their
student IDs, on the cover page. Just a reminder that this task consists a large portion of your course total, I need not stress the
importance of taking it seriously.
